Ginyu force predates mighty morphin power rangers in america, that's amazing to me how japanese power rangers was around so long before that the parody of it predates America's introduction to it.

Super Sentai series predate Power Rangers. MMPR was based on a late Super Sentai series... and the Super Sentai concept was taken from earlier things as well. Kamen Rider is a few years older than the earliest Super Sentai series.

And I'm *pretty* sure that the entire Japanese superhero genre to some extent took cues from the American comic book scene, in the same way that Japanese animation is technically built on Disney since the progenitor of the genre was heavily influenced by Disney.

The basis for anime today was largely built around one man who very openly adored and emulated Disney. And you can clearly see those influences in early anime. While Japan had a few animated shorts *prior* to Disney taking off -- most of which were completely lost -- they bore little resemblance to the anime that came after them. And anime as a whole took off *after* Disney was an established thing, largely because Disney influenced it.

the guy who made astro boy was a big fan of disney. he gave them those giant eyes because of disney cartoons. anime still uses his styles
