i think five guys is overall better tasting but $15 for a burger, fries and a drink is fucking ridiculous so my vote goes to in-n-out.

More or less my thoughts. Same goes for Shack Shake. I think their burgers are overall better but at the price I'm paying, I can probably get twice the amount with In-N-Out. There comes a point where the burger is good enough for me and I feel In-N-Out is at that threshold without going further and charging us for it.

Haven't had Five Guys yet. I really doubt it can beat In N Out. Too bad In N Out doesn't have bacon burgers though.

I've never tried In-N-Out. Five Guys burgers are pretty good in my opinion.

However, I can acknowledge that fries are what Five Guys really excels at.

I've only had In-N-Out, and sometimes order fries or shake from them. So, however Five Guys might compare on these would decide my vote, assuming I ever had the chance to try them.

Neither of them existed anywhere near me for decades, so I've never eaten at either.

There's actually a Five Guys near me now, and has been for a few years, but I've never really been motivated enough to go in and try anything.

On a similar topic, maybe a more fair comparison might Shake Shack versus Five Guys since they cost about the same? In this case I would choose Five Guys over Shake Shack. I especially like their cajun fries.

Ive only been to In-n-Out once. The line was hellaciously long. The burger was small and only took up 2/3 of the bun. The fries were cold. The milkshake was average.

I only had In-N-Out once when I visited California, but them. Five Guys is hugely disappointing for the price, especially when I can drive down the street and get a burger, fries, mac salad, and drink from my favorite burger place for the same price as a burger from Five Guys.

1) I was surprised as well. I was 23 at the time and had heard about In-n-Out starting with The Big Lebowski. I also heard they had great service. None of that was true for my visit. Its sad too because I really wanted to like it. But it was one of the most disappointing meals of my life.

2) Five Guys ownership has determined they have reached market saturation and are no longer approving additional expansions.

Since you mentioned service, regardless of one's stance with Chick-fil-A because of the owners, their customer service at their restaurants seems really good in my opinion. I am almost weird out by it for some reason.

The only "negative" I can maybe see with them is one need to ask for their sauce now instead of them being available on a separate shelf. This I can understand though since people were probably taking too many.

I don't mind the price of Five Guys, but it is a little expensive. But I think there's not really much that stands out at In-N-Out that I really like. I did like 1x4 or 4x1 (Whichever had a burger and 4 slices of cheese, but that's it. I had cheese fries, and they were not the best I've ever had or close. And the shake was only ok. The burger was good, though bacon would have made it better. I don't really remember the price. But I would still go to Five Guys before In-N-Out...

I don't believe this post.

It doesn't seem that unbelievable. The line is usually long. Lots of people seem to enjoy it. Maybe he did get a small burger. And I could see the fries being cold, maybe. The milkshake being average is his opinion. Especially if he's gone to a place that has awesome milkshakes...

Depends on how long you're there for. We I go there TDY, it's usually for like a month. I don't wanna waste all my money on going to big restaurants every night. Plus, some nights, I just want to eat some food and crash. And if I get drunk there, fast food usually sounds pretty good...
