Actor or actress, this would have been a pretty solid Doctor Who episode. I like Jodie Whittaker's take on The Doctor so far, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

If you're gonna come in here to bitch about "ess-jay-double-yous" and female reimaginings ruining things that you used to like, then you should have at least seen the episode I'm talking about. This isn't a wider discussion of where media is being taken in the 2010's, it's a thread about Doctor Who.

But that episode was badd.

Any don't bring up SJW? If it was just a female doctor fine, but her 3 pals are varioys ethnicities, seems too forced.

But hey if the episode was just white males it would've sucked too.

My dad has always liked Dr Who going way back and he thought it was horrible.

And it has nothing to do with the Dr being a female.

I said not to bring them up if you haven't seen the episode, which you at least seem to have. You're in the clear, if you had just been like "yet another Cultural Marxist reimagining that's not even worth watching, so I didn't" then I would have marked your post as off-topic and moved on. Saying that you wouldn't have enjoyed it if the Doctor was a guy goes a long way - if you didn't enjoy the episode, then you didn't enjoy the episode.

Personally, I thought Ryan and Graham were both pretty solid characters in the episode. Yasmin was a bit of a weak link, but I'm hoping to see her get better over time. I understand how someone can be like "oh well it seems like they're just forcing diversity and it hasn't worked for the show", but so far I would argue that 4 out of the 5 main characters last night were great - Yasmin was the only weak link IMO, with The Doctor not being quite as regeneration-sick as I thought she would be? But otherwise, I thought that the TARDIS crew did a pretty solid job. What matters to me is if they did a good job, I'm not going to step back and be like "well this is a bit tryhard" or think of it as being the furthering of an agenda - again, no hate if you didn't like the episode on the merits of its overall quality, but I don't understand judging the production over how the cast members look. So they're all different races - did they do a good job? Maybe you didn't think so, and that's fine - but I personally thought it was one of the better episodes of the show in a long time.

Personally I think that even if it wasn't a great episode of TV - and I do think it's a pretty solid episode - it's still better than most of Moffat's run. Thoughts on that?

I know nothing about Dr. Who except the most surface level stuff, including the fact he regenerates whenever they change actors. As an outsider, I'm actually kind of surprised it took them this long to try a female doctor. I don't see how anyone can complain about it if the lore permits it.

Anyways I tried to get into the series ages ago when it was still on Netflix and I just couldnt do it. You guys have fun though.

I thought Whittaker's take was pretty good. Seems more upbeat, sharp and snarky than 11, without 12's unfeeling coldness.

Well, I certainly think she will be fine as the doctor once its a few ep's in, and even having 3 companions instead of just 1 seems interesting I'll admit.

Tho the entire time I thought the guy would ride the bike better if they were on pavement.

But yea even as someone that's not a big fan, silly not to like it just cause its a female.
Once shes past the "I just regenerated, so I only kinda remember who I am" she'll be fine
