Those are the Japanese release dates FYI. Chrono Cross for example did not come out in the US until 2000, and it was released in August while Final Fantasy IX was released in November.

Crazy that we used to get that many quality 3rd party huge releases that close together.

DLC, focus on graphics over gameplay, Call of Duty, The Xbox 360 in general

take your pick

Honestly they aren't allowed to do ambitious and groundbreaking games anymore. The market will not allow it.

Dame FF VIII, IX, and X were literally all made just 1 year apart? I don't remember them all coming out that close together tbh. Seemed like they were all like 2 years apart in my memory.

That final fantasy 7 remake isn't gonna see the light of day until 2035 maybe longer, it was such a stupid move for them to do

Sega had a really good run from the 80's and 90's.

Capcom was pretty awesome from the early 90's to the mid 2000's too.

North American release dates:

Final Fantasy VIII: September 9, 1999 (same day as the Dreamcast)
Final Fantasy IX: November 13, 2000
Final Fantasy X: December 17, 2001

2001 was a crazy year for PS2 releases in general

September 24th: Silent Hill 2
September 30th: ICO
October 17th: Devil May Cry
October 22nd: Grand Theft Auto III
November 13th: Metal Gear Solid 2

Sega fanboys on here would make fun of early adopters of the PS2, but after that Fall Sega was dead as far as consoles go.

No, I believed the post, it just seemed like a longer time back then. I guess it was because I was younger and time just went by slower back then. Now a whole year goes by and it feels so fucking fast to me.
