Like I had this job for 2 years.

1 guy joined 2 years ago like a month after me. He was super lazy never did work for like a whole year. Then this year comes around and then he just starts acting like he cares about work and now he is catching up to me fast in terms of amount of money we make in the company and I slave for hours sinking all my time even overtime into work and he just shows up in the last few months trying hard and basically caught up to me and he hasn't even worked as much but everyone loves him more and he is really popular and I'm jealous as fuck. The thing is we are so fucking similar I have to think something must be wrong with me. We are extremely similar like from education, parents, stuff we like, clothes and our jobs are the same. So it feels like he is my popular clone.

1 guy joined last year very similar to me again now we are different but this guy in 1 year managed to surpass people in the company that have been working hard here for 2 years or even 5-8 years already. He is great and nice but I feel like shit because all it took is 67 projects for him and he is 10x ahead of all us even if I have 400 projects done for the company. No joke he is already close to 6 digit salary and I feel worthless like how the hell does he just boost up and I'm here slaving and with crumbs.

Damn CE I'm feeling pretty worthless right now like I work overtime and put so much into my work because I really like it but I don't get any recognition or anything I feel like I should just quit but I don't know what to do.

I mean what would you do in my position if people that started the same as you already passed you and even new guys are way past you now at the company?

how do you find out all these people's salaries?

I feel the same TC. I'm a music composer/electronic music producer/pianist. I went to college for a music degree and still hace a crappy retail job after 4 years. I hear bland music everywhere getting praise. I hear video game soundtracks that I could have done something of similar quality.

Yeah I feel worthless a lot of times.

The only things that make me shake with balled-up frustration are watching all my friends get married and enjoy a happy, shared life with a significant other while I must suffer alone and intellectual and seeing moderators with their hoity-toity "(Moderator)" label respond to me causally knowing I will never join them.

You'll never be happy in life if you are always comparing yourself to others - it's a negative mindset that becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. There will always be people doing "better" than you in some way, so you'll always be making yourself miserable.

Set your own goals and focus on achieving them - don't worry about how fast it takes others to.

Just realize that you can't get down in the dumps comparing yourself endlessly to coworkers. Matter fact is, all you can personally do is work on yourself. Beyond that, it is definitely true that office politics can come into play as far as how far you can go in a certain company. For whatever reason, some people get picked on and torn apart by others regardless of how much they contribute, especially if you're just starting out in a field - shit does roll downhill after all. If you think your work is being undervalued or that you're not being given a fair shake (which happens a ton) and you got a few years invested into that company, then feel free to put yourself out on the resume market and see what happens. Sometimes the only way to move up in your industry is by moving around and forcing various companies to see you as a valuable commodity.

They absolutely are, social skills can get even the dumbest motherfucker a high paying job despite them being completely incompetent at it, Scion was right, life is all about connections, if you don't have any you might as well roll over and die.

Success is mastery of self. Including inclinations to feel depressed or overjoyed. Sure, we all need money to get by. But you shouldn't define your happiness by such an unworthy gauge.
