Okay....so I'm sitting here on the couch with my cat. He's a sweet little bug. Almost 2 years old. I've been with him since he was a tiny tiny kitten. I've lived in two different places since owning him. Neither of those two places had a doorbell.

So I'm watching a movie....and there's a scene where someone rings a doorbell.

When that scene happened, my cat perked up and immediately looked at the door to my apartment.

Now, yer probably thinking it was just a loud sound that startled him and he just kinda looked in the direction of the door, trying to find the source of the sound. Yer thinking my cat didn't associate the sound with it being an actual doorbell and it was just a coincidence.

But no. It wasn't a loud sound at all. Nothing worth startling him. There were loud sudden bangs of gunfire and explosions in this movie too and he didn't care about them at all. But that doorbell got his attention big time. The way some dogs make associations with words like, "walk?!" and they run for the door all excited.

I swear, my cat knew what a doorbell was. And knew it meant someone was at the door.

But he's never been in that situation in his entire life! No doorbell experiences.

I think he experienced doorbells in a past life.

As for me....it reminded me of when I was learning to drive way back when. It was my first time behind a wheel. It was an Isuzu bronco looking thing. Automatic.

I remember driving it around, and then I needed to go in reverse for the first time in the parking lot....and my mom was sitting next to me (since I only had my permit) and I vividly remember reaching my right hand up to grab for the shifter to kick the vehicle into reverse. Only my hand passed through thin air, because there was no shifter there...

And I remember my mom kinda gasped a bit, and said, "You drove a truck before!?"

And I was like, "What?"

And she pointed out, "You just tried to shift from the wheel..."

The Isuzu's shifter was below and in the middle between both seats like in most cars.

My brain expected it to be by the wheel. Like muscle memory. I was so certain it was there. Even though I had never driven before.

Now, yer probably thinking....it was because I probably saw it in a movie or something when I was a little kid, and my brain made that association to how you are supposed to drive, because all kids want to drive. And you might be right. But, at the same time, I don't recall any movie having such a profound effect on me. My brain just wanted to go in reverse and my hand knew where it needed to go....

from a past life or some shit.

Anyway.....

cocaine.

Pretty much all cartoons show a steering rack mounted lever so it was probably standardised by that.

In no way shape or form would or should a cat maintain its memories of a doorbell should the universe had used his point of view before.

If half the posters here were this honest about their obvious crack use things would make a lot more sense.

Why does reincarnation have to be magic? At one point in time, people thought the sun was magic.

Honestly, reincarnation is more logical and makes more sense than an afterlife. Life itself is cyclical because everything in life tends to recycle itself. Reincarnation could just be that, i.e. life recycling itself.

1. Who says?
2. But would that technically be magic?

Are you going to post proof or just pass opinion as fact? It's most likely impossible for us to prove anything regarding the afterlife with the technology and metaphsyical understanding we have as a specieis.

This is the most logical guess at the "afterlife" that we have, assuming something does happen after we die.

Neat story, TC. There's a lot of strange coincidences and deja vu type moments like that which have me thinking that there is more to life and death than what we know. I'm still of the mindset that we're unable to prove or disprove anything right now, but life seems much more interesting than just going "we die then decompose and that's it."
