Conservatives hate protesting because it gets in the way of them wanting to ignore it and it brings up an issue that doesn't affect them nor they care about so it's annoying. So in other words they hate liberal protesting, when it's time to rally against democrats however they love it, remember the protesting against the NFL, against news media, against any late show and the future protect against The Conners? That's the protesting conservatives love, hell, Tim Allen caused protesting against Last man standing being canceled so well Fox funded the whole show when it wasn't near enough to justify the outrageous salary Tim Allen has for it, and finally, protesting anything that is criticle of Donald Trump.

Why do you guys say stuff like this when protests are happening on a weekend? Y'all said the same stuff when the Womens March and the Rally for Our Lives thing after the Florida shooting. Not everyone works weekends...

Several things

- Conservatism targets social issues that are mostly already well-entrenched and unthreatened. Stuff like gun ownership and the preservation of Christianity which they tell you are constantly endangered and on the precipice of being stolen from us, when in reality they're largely secure and are going to be for the forseeable future barring some kind of absolute takeover of the government. These people have mostly protested by sitting in their living room and shouting at their televisions for decades and it's worked out fine, so they hold actual marches, demonstrations and other such things regarding actual threatened causes largely as unneeded nuisances

- Conservatism has valued straight, white, christian values as the social portion of its platform for more than half a century. The idea of them being a party of personal civil liberties has been being overwritten for quite some time and generally this is a subject only brought out to showboat, because it sells a lot less than getting the vote of the south via fearmongering about the "others." This has classically brought groups like neo-nazis and white supremacists under the fold of the party more because that section of things aligns with their personal goals than anything else. They care about rights, just not the rights of anyone but themselves.

-When you lie down with dogs, you'll rise up with fleas. A lot of younger, newer members of the party fall under a portion of the ideology that is openly and flagrantly hateful and intolerant (i.e. the alt-right) on a much more visceral level than their predecessors. Older republican politicians were content to dogwhistle intolerance because it allowed them to not only tap an exploitable demographic in the form of racists, it also gave them a sort of plausible deniability to pretend that their opponents were just being overly sensitive to people who weren't fully down with that sort of thing. Going louder with this sort of stuff has attracted some really bad people.This louder and more vile subsection of people are a lot more predisposed to be opposed to things like minority issues and the rights of gays or transgenders, and their typical reaction has often been a lot more vociferous, or even violent in response.

tl;dr it boils down to the party's main focus being issues that are very much already ingrained as part of the established order of the country as well as its predisposition to attract outright hateful and ignorant people.
