the old republic is ok if you treat it like a single player game and just do the class stories. but the class stories end once you hit the first expansion.

but the story is never what you focus on in an mmo...

the only time you read the quest is if you don't know what the objective is w/o reading it.
also always skip quest giver dialogue.

Let me tell you what those are: a myth, nowhere to be seen in our current world. It is indeed a shame.

in Old Republic its the only good thing. I really dont think the game is all that great. but it has some interesting quest lines unique for each class. it should have just been a single player game

also its different from most MMO's cause the quest givers out right talk. you don't read it. they talk to your character and your character speaks too. every quest involves actual cut scenes with actors

This. The characters and dialog are quite good for main story. I didn't even end up skipping a lot of the sidequest dialog either, it was always semi-interesting. The atmosphere and general view of the planets is neat too. Some of the optional readable lore is not bad either.

Not ashamed to say I also loved to dress up my characters a fair amount. That's something they had added more recently, which should've been in the game a long time ago, outfit slots. Some of the armor/clothes were really nice...very star wars-y anyways.

Yes and I can't be the one who who would legit pick an option JUST to see what my character/the npc would say and then hit esc to cancel the conversation and start it over again sometimes. Hitting esc exits it and you can talk to them again. Then spacebar to skip stuff til you get to that dialog choice once again.

Then why play? You're just running from objective to objective like a rat in a maze.

Elder Scrolls Online is good, but has a price tag to get in. Neverwinter is decent, free, but going through some stuff right now. Wish they'd figure out how to bring games like Old Republic or Guild Wars 2 to console...I don't pc game much anymore. Tera is interesting, if a little confusing. Defiance 2050 is ok, but has a harsh slant against soloing content.

That makes no sense considering it's pretty good. MMO or not, it's interesting.

to play end-game pve.

even when i played WoW i went to a new zone as soon as I could get quests there. didn't matter if my current zone had quests for another level or two, much better xp in the next zone. better xp = shorter leveling.

gameplay >>> story

Haven't played in a while but if you're at all interested in text-based MUDs, Gemstone IV has a free option but I think it limits you to one character and maybe some other restrictions
