This is now a curiosity of mine. In a hypothetical match (I know, one we won't be getting this contest), who would win between these two? Let's see if ertyu is right that Kirby would never beat Dante.

Part of the reason this match stopped being so highly requested is because the question mark vanished. In the early years of the contests the two were roughly equal strength and it would have been a legitimate bracket-buster. But somewhere along the line, Kirby pulled far ahead of Dante and most people take Kirby now without thinking twice.

Yeah, Dante is a #1 seed in this contest but I don't see him winning his division, even with a new DMC game finally coming. Kirby is a #2 seed with a shot at winning his. Kirby simply has more strength now, even if the seeding doesn't reflect that.

That said, it'd have been nice if they'd had a 1-on-1 match back in the day, but alas....
