How on earth did we end up with no games today? What weird scheduling quirk is this?

The NHL has had some awful scheduling these first few weeks. The Leafs, Sharks, and Knights have each played 5 meanwhile some teams are as low as 2 games.

Teams have played back-to-backs already despite having 5+ days off in between other games, and the 12th featured zero games. It all makes no sense.

Oilers get their first win of the season despite usually being atrocious in afternoon games. I'll take it. Three games in and still haven't scored a goal that McDavid wasn't in on, but hey, who ever said secondary scoring was important...?

First full game i got to watch and it wasn't pretty.

Power play is still 0 for the season.

I mean yeah it was unnecessary and all that. But it wasn't exactly a "headshot" as we know them. I'm not sure this deserves any more than 1 game.

If it wasn't against a hot young player who got injured, it probably gets nothing and nobody thinks twice about it.

Funny story. During my draft, I was browsing through players during my pick and I started running out of time. I couldn't scroll back to the guy that I wanted in time so I got autodrafted Sebastian Aho who has been amazing so far. This led me to drafting Andrei Svechnikov whose ATOI has been pretty bad but he's producing in other categories. Also ended up with Dougie Hamilton so I ended up going pretty hard on the Hurricanes during the draft mostly due to an autodraft pick and it's been working!

I accidentally ended up with Teravainen but hes been decent so no regrets so far

Of the three goals Toronto scored that mattered, two of them were when Doughty was without his stick, and the other went off his skate

I hate to say it and I still don't really understand it, but it's time for a rebuild here. Get a massive package for Doughty, rebuild around Kopitar.

The time for a rebuild went out the window. Its time to just accept being middling trash for 3ish years and then hope for a rebuild.

I see the kings had 3? more futile attempts at a power play again as well.

Oilers managed a big comeback win tonight over Winnipeg and even managed to find the scoresheet without McDavid - after he was in on their first four goals, Darnell Nurse channeled his inner Bobby Orr on the overtime game winner to officially have someone other than McDavid accomplishing things

I would. Matthews will balance out and slow down his 10 goals or whatever this far wont hold. Plus ovie hits like 150 times a season if you have categories and not just overall points

I dunno... I've been a Leafs skeptic for a couple years, and nobody loves Ovechkin more than I do, but man... it's looking like Matthews really is the real deal and this really is the year for him to make his mark.

Will he cool off? Sure.

But I still believe in the Caps Stanley Cup Hangover thesis, and the Leafs as a team can still get a lot better on defense, and even if Matthews personally cools down, he's still going to be surrounded with great players.

If you want hits, go grab Dustin Brown off the waiver wire and be done with it. Especially if you have an IR slot!
