Because I didn't know how she'd react since I deal with my shit by working out and indulging in a lot of hobbies. I thought she'd think I was just not working because I didn't want to instead of it being legitimately difficult. I just got a text from her that she completely understands and that that isn't the case though.

Anytime someone tells me they are on disablity for things that I also deal with, while still working, it grates me a bit. I know people are different, and cope in different ways, but I feel that there is work out there for pretty much anyone. You just gotta be willing to look for it.

I do neither of those. The only expenses I have are rent, internet, cell phone, car payment and gym dues.

I work in security, and I'm mostly autonomous. I didn't fit in well with normal jobs. I always broke down into panic attacks, so I'd have to quit. I eventually found a job that I could work with. Now, I work full time and I'm in a supervisor position.

If I can do it with my mile long rap sheet of mental illness, just about anyone can do it. There's very few disability exceptions for mental health. My brother is a full blown paranoid schizophrenic, with full on delusions of grandeur and hyper paranoia. He once thought our father had a 50k hit out on his head. He was also convinced that the was Jesus Christ, on multiple occasions. He even worked, until his condition got worse (if you can believe that), and he spent several stays at phych ward.
