These issues all effect the the XS directly. It's not about the fast charger either, it's about how slow the wired charger is that they give you

Honestly, having used an iPhone plus in the past, I knew what I was getting into with this. It kind of sucks that I had no choice but to use an iPhone due to my employers requirements.

I have used iPhone Plus models before (the 6s and 7 Pluses). I went into the Max thinking an X but like a Plus. Aside from split-screening certain apps in landscape, it has less individuality than those phones did with their standard size counterparts.

They could've done more to differentiate the XS Max. Even with the Plus models, you typically got more RAM, dual cameras and higher screen resolution.

Also the Xs Max is a higher resolution. The problem is its PPI and aspect ratio are the same so when they scale the display it just manages to contain the same amount of visual information as a standard X.

Rendering video on it takes a dickyear and I have to worry about it overheating so I gotta point two box fans at it and keep it on a crate when it's rendering but the keyboard is fine and I can shitpost from it without trouble

idk man I got an Xs Max and the screen is flawless, the reception is as good or better than the X it replaced and the battery so far has been wonderful. Not 2 day battery for normal use but I feel pretty confident I could stretch it 2 days if I needed to(for a more meaningful number, I'm averaging 6-7hr~ SOT and have roughly 50% battery left when I go to bed, small sample size of 4 days tho).

The launch hasn't been flawless though, I know some ppl IRL who got shitty screens(one with horrible uniformity and the other made whites look like smoker-yellowed plastic) but both did a swap at the Apple store and got normal units. I personally had some network issues but resetting the network settings(general -> reset -> reset network settings) fixed it and now has improved reception compared to the X it replaced. Kinda inexcusable for a $1000+ phone to not have shit like that nailed down from the go though. And lacking even a faster(but not fast) charger in the box is pretty lame. 5W is fine for overnight charging but it wouldn't kill Apple to spend an extra 50 cents per unit and give us an iPad charger(12W), or at least give us a coupon for some money off their actual fast charger(which is inexplicably $49(and requires a $20 cable, sold separately ofc))

This is a huge issue imo. Apple always praised itself for ease of use and everything working seemlessly. Not only does it not do that now, but it's still a huge premium to get in.

Also I think I'm the only guy who's used a Mac for a long time but really doesn't like MacOS at all.

The GUI for the machine, Finder, is terrible compared to Windows' Explorer. Sorting your files the way you want them is a complete bitch, it opens a new window whenever you open a folder instead of keeping it in one handy window with a back button and a row of directories in the address bar so you can quickly jump from one to another

And for whatever reason nobody ever made a compressed file manager like 7z or WinRAR with a similar GUI to the Windows and Linux versions, every Mac app I've found just kinda pukes all your files into whatever directory it's in and you can't pick and choose what files you want to extract from a RAR, it's all or nothing

Dropping photos and videos from an iPhone is a better experience with Windows than MacOS, too, since on Windows you can just plug your phone in and manually pull them off within Explorer. MacOS insists you use iPhoto which is a load of ol' dog shit and it's a major pain to dig through the file system and find the raw actual jpegs so you can put them on an external drive

I know, but a computer that's eight years old with a keyboard that's been used consistently for eight years shouldn't be holding up better than a six month old computer. Macs used to be a lot better back in the Steve Jobs days.

Not only that, the Pixel 2 was "only" $850 when that happened. Apple is asking for $1000+ and not even giving you premium hardware for it

Ridiculous

I actually find Android (from Marshmallow onward) to be a far more "it just works" ecosystem than iOS. iOS has added a lot of features over the past few years, but in a misguided effort to keep the home screen as "pure" as possible, they created endless menus and sub menus in the Settings section.

Plus, there are some inexplicable design choices that are starting to become obnoxious. Legitimate widgets, for one.
