I mean, runs like this are not really on the same level as what you're probably talking about. It looks like that on the outside, but the thing is Cissnei is not a really odd summon with meme-ability.

Now we're talking! Elena will last longer than Cissnei though, she's always safe before I ever even need to get to her.

My top two priorities are entangled with Cissnei and Elena through trades and such, funnily enough.

I was going to ask about that one too since I never understood it, but figured I'd save that question for another day...

It's pretty simple - I played FF2 for the first time and enjoyed the game.

After failing to rally in my actual favorite, Leonhart, into the contest, Lopen tried rallying in Minwu and was successful.

Lots of people agreed - Minwu is pretty cool and people naturally rallied around getting he and FF2 a good finish.

Minwu's a good character. Remains one of the most unique designs in the series-- one of the only white mages that isn't just the leading girl of the game, and shows a lot of personality in the time he has in the game. Also has one of the cooler moments in that game.

Also you can do some great things in FF2 by abusing his high level white magic and its soft borders. Like getting to one of the final towns before doing the second dungeon.

Feel really bad about Leon, a good character from the game in his own right, getting robbed by tiebreakers two years in a row though. Will go hard for him in nominations next year for sure. Don't leave it to the judges, even when you don't think they're involved.

I kind of figured as much, and since 2 is the only non-online main series game I haven't played, have no place to comment on that. I just assumed most people hadn't played it either, though I don't know why I never did... probably didn't want to start it right after beating 1 and then never returned to it.

I can't tell you when, but I can tell you that it uses to be twice a year when the field was smaller

this board didn't exist until 2002 and if i had to guess i'd say it started around mid-to-late 2003. that would make contest VIII 3.5 years later, either late 2006 or early 2007 for Balthier to win in the first contest after FFXII came out.

Haha, how could I forget the board didn't exist before that first contest, geez.

Yeah I looked at the history and that works out. If we say VIII was in 2007 that would put 12 more editions over the following 11 years, and the first FF13 characters showed up in XIII which works because 13-2010 leads to 20-2018.So double-ups in those early years and even the Advent Children Reno boost can work (I mean, in addition to the yaoi fanart boost...)

XIII might have started 2010 but it would have been very late in 2010. though i think it was early 2011. XIV for sure was not until 2012 and it's been exactly one per year since (starting like a month later every year).

Yeah I meant 2011, I guess I was still thinking of those halcyon days in 2010, getting the PS3, playing the game on my absolute piece of crap tiny TV.... then I bought a flat screen LCD and it was like playing an entirely different game! Good times.
