Does anyone remember that episode of Boston Legal about a production of Annie that's getting sued because they overlooked a young black girl for the titular role, and near the end of the trial Al Sharpton bursts into the room with a speech about not depriving young black kids of characters that look like them? He even says "give us a black Spider-Man!"

Funnily enough, both characters have been portrayed as black since that episode aired.

Nah black Clark Kent

A DC Hamiltonverse would pretty much be a requirement for a black Clark Kent from Smallville Kansas to be remotely believable.

Otherwise, it's essentially SuperWebster.
The alternative of changing Clark to be "from the streets" of the east side of Kansas City just perpetuates and reinforces the stereotypes a "black Superman" is trying to counter.

sortof happened. in the movie Gods and Monsters, a different superman lands by the mexican border and is found and raised by illegal immigrants crossing into the US. he's not really racially hispanic obviously cause he's from Krypton. but he is raised in their culture. he is not Kal El or Clark Kent though. he's a different Kryptonian that came to earth instead of the one we know. the point of the movie is that fates get altered and Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are all in that world, different people than Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne and Diana of Themescrya

There are multiple black superman in the comics, earth 9 and earth 23. I'm okay if DC uses either of those. However I am not okay with making clark kent black. He is an icon, and changing him for diversitys sake is stupid and undermines the actual black supermen in the universe.

Also the earth 23 superman is named calvin ellis and he is the president of the usa. He is the perfect option to use.
