Curious to see what people think of Kratos now that he's got a very well received new game behind him.

(also the Zero here is the MMX one, not the Zero Escape one, obviously)

Big Boss > Zero

Kratos looked bad in 2013 and I don't think the new game helps enough. Leon isn't in the same ballpark either, someone like Dante fits better. BB/Zero is a tough choice though.

Yeah, I almost put Dante here instead of Leon, but I almost feel like he's a little out of their league. Maybe not though.

I think I would do Big Boss > Kratos, think Kratos now is stronger than 2010 Kratos and that did better on Zard than Bowser did, though idk if Zard was the same strength.

Charizard/Bowser was on the day of HG/SS's release, and Charizard probably had a bit of a bandwagon effect at that point, to boot.

although speaking of the boot, Kratos did do a fair bit better against Charizard than L-Block did

This is definitely a good year to bite on a Kratos upset, but I think Zero is a bit out of his league regardless. It's just hard for me to imagine GameFAQs taking a current flavor of the month over a character that invokes strong nostalgia like Zero does. I feel confident Big Boss would beat anyone in this pack, though Naked Snake would definitely help.

And I would entertain all four of these guys over Dante, considering he hasn't done much of note since DmC.

I know in 2013 Metal Gear was killing everything, but I'm really expecting it to lose a lot of strength because of the undewhleming MGSV, all the Konami/Kojima drama, and Metal Gear Survive. Snake might be the only one that actually keeps/gains strength because of Everyone is Here

Or it could be the opposite and everyone's super nostalgic for it and I'm just crazy

The teenagers frequenting CE these days probably wouldn't recognize Zero. I think Kratos beats him handily on recognition alone.

Leon has a remake coming out and that's going to help him. That's a tough call. A timely trailer will give him a boost.

If this were a board 8 tournament, however, it'd be Big Boss and Zero.

Some people always seem to underestimate the kind of folks the contest brings in. A regular Poll of the Day won't bring in many outsiders and will show the demographic skews older; if run concurrently with a contest, the result probably differs.

I was under the impression that the Undertale crowd skewed younger than B8 - as in 16 to 22 or so. It's been three years since the last contest so that means any 16 to 22 y/o folks probably aren't going to know/remember Zero.
