So basically no one can ever make fun of a person who isn't white cause then its racist. Please I've seen George bush and Trump both drawn much worse and no one gave a fuck.

Serena is such a bitch and her spoiled behavior made this weekend be about her as her fragile ego couldnt take the fact the lime light wasnt on her.

Azumanga Daioh? A classic. Described as "Seinfeld with high school girls". There's very little conflict and the stories are largely based around the girls just interacting and making jokes off each other.

The first reply.

Besides that, take it in context of the umpire, not as a generalization of statistics. Many have said worse to him than "thief" without receiving any sort of penalty at all.

Moreover, he should've just left the coaching offense at a soft warning, as he usually does with men who committed code violations. Then he OK'd the situation with Serena in conversation when they had their exchange over that, without telling her he'd actually logged her moment of coaching in as an actual 1st offense instead of a soft warning (at which point, he can't take it back). So, she had no idea it was actually her 2nd offense when she smashed that racquet of hers.

She should've played it safe afterwards since she should've known what type she was dealing with at that point, but I understand her irrational frustration and loss of control. Part of me does feel like she just wanted to go for broke because she wasn't seeing Naomi that day.

But no, the history of that particular Ramos suggests leniency given to men as opposed to women within his criteria. Race has nothing (visible) to do with it. At the very least, he was terribly incompetent then and lacked judgment in handling that situation, and he deserved his tens of thousands of boos for wasting everyone's time, practice, and money.

The comic was purely a typical caricature, a very tame one at that as well.

Serena embarrassed the entire sport of Tennis and athleticism as a whole. She earned her punishment, her $17k fine and this silly cartoon.

It can essentially be considered a precursor to Lucky Star. Lucky Star, to my mind, goes a little too hard with the references and the reliance on knowing otaku culture. AzuDai, on the other hand, is more general. Also, the girls are more varied in design.

Instead of focusing on this comic, deflect to whether or not she deserved her penalty. Heck point out that another black woman has done a thing?

Liked it so much I wanted to repeat the purchases.

I cant decide which chapters are my favorite.

My favorite characters are Osaka and Tomo.

Really liked the P.E. teacher Minamo as well, she was voiced by Bulmas actor in the English dub.

And the subsequent replies explain why that is incorrect. A third violation is a game (it used to be a disqualification), so it's not a case where other people shouting at the umpire needs to be a game penalty to be fair.

On the Sports board, you'll see other tennis fans citing Ramos's history being just as strict giving penalties to men like Nadal and Djokovic.

From round one to final, there are 127 matches in each field, and out of 20ish violations in 127 matches in the women's tournament Serena got three in one match. Two competitors in each match has Serena at 3 violations out of 20 issued to 254 people on court.

I watched and know Serena thought she resolved the issue with the initial conversation, but nothing Ramos said explicitly indicates he saw it that way. He did explicitly issue a violation for coaching. It's not an issue of the ump's discretion to give a soft warning, coaching midmatch is explicitly forbidden (the women are allowed to get a face-to-face during a changeover).

I just can't see it as a sexism issue, it's a Serena issue. Specifically, an issue when Serena is losing.

That doesn't matter, because there's certain discretion you're supposed to take in a match of this caliber. It should've never gotten to that point because his former officiating was terrible, but he never gave her the benefit of the doubt for her anger like he'd done for so many other men who'd never even accumulated point violations. Or if they had, they continued briefly and he let it go.

The whole, "The men were coded once and never did it again," is just a parrot of what that one commentator (I think Evert) was saying that night.

Was Ramos officiating every match? That's a serious question, as I only caught the final.

According to her, he said he understood where she was coming from and knew she wasn't cheating.

According to her, he said he understood where she was coming from and knew she wasn't cheating.

Is the her here Serena or Evert? If Serena, then, understandably, Serena thinks she's in the right, and even if it's Evert, Ramos clearly meant it in a "I get where you're coming from, but I think you're wrong and the call stands" way since the violation stood.

He didn't do every match, it would be impossible.

He did exercise his discretion in waiting so long when every opportunity after the point penalty she was demanding an apology and wanting him to make a special announcement to the crowd and calling him a thief. Serena brought it on herself, and it really doesn't compare to other men or women arguing a fault/overrule that leaves a challenge resulting in a point replay instead of a win or arguing a spot on a clay court after an individual point.

He's a fairly well regarded chair umpire and will get big matches in the future since the International Tennis Federation has backed him up as in the right. Some would even say not giving stars leniency is a positive.
