Zen you seem um....weirdly hostile towards Shantae, and I don't even care about Shantae having never played one of her games

it's mainly because of the mental gymnastics involved in thinking Shantae has an actual shot based on super circumstantial evidence. there's just no way but Shantae fans are super stubborn. At first I was indifferent but now I just think it's ridiculous

I just tested this out....Sure Chun Li has a tiny bit more non porn art but you're still giving her a lot of free passes >_>

Shantae's cool and her game is a cult Nintendo icon (in the sense of being GBC exclusive, not being made by Nintendo) that's had a resurgence recently. She has way more pedigree than Shovel Knight.

I don't expect her to be in but I'd like her more than 95% of the third parties people throw around.

Calling Shantae an icon, even a cult icon, is stretching the definition of icon reeeeeeally far.

Also would not agree she has a better pedigree than Shovel Knight unless your metric is that Shantae appeared on a Nintendo system first while Shovel Knight appeared on PC first, and if you're talking about specifically getting in an indie rep then that shouldn't matter at all. Indie games are 90% PC-based.

Like I'm not super against her being in but ranking at #6 on that list is pretty baffling. More people want Shantae than Skull Kid?

I think part of the metric that makes her a (theoretically ) better choice than Shovel Knight is how long she's been around. Shovel Knight just got here and technically still just has one game,
maybe he's just a flash in the pan and noone will care about him three years from now.

I doubt it, but maybe! I dunno, I haven't even played a Shantae game. She seems fine. I think she'd be a good AT.

If there's going to be an indie rep it should be Phil Fish. Digitize that real dude and make him fight Charizard.

Chrom still surprises me as an entry. I realize he's a zero effort echo character, but I don't understand who wanted him in the game. He doesn't even advertise the new FE coming out. One of the three main characters from Three Houses would make sense.

He's still popular amongst the Fire Emblem fanbase despite being passed over in the last game. He also featured prominently in the two FE spin-offs - Tokyo Mirage Sessions and Warriors.

I guess. FEA already had two characters, and I can't recall anyone pushing for Chrom after he got in as Robin's FS. Just weird to me.

Pretty sure Japan pushed heavily for his inclusion even after being in Robin's final smash.

There were a lot of disappointed people when Chrom failed to make Smash 4. Personally I was happy with Robin, especially since he played differently.

Robin is great, I have no problems with him. He also wins points for being the only FE character with no counterattack.

I also have less problems with Corrin. I think being removed from FE makes me only appreciate them based on appearance and moveset as opposed to their status in the series.

I am so sick of Marth, Roy, Lucina, Chrom, etc. They're the same thing. I never want to use them even on random.

Chrom ranked pretty highly in both Smash Bros ballot polls (even post-release) and Fire Emblem popularity polls, and he already had a model made in Smash 4. Easiest Echo Fighter choice ever.
