I can handle almost any smell but that - I had to crouch on the floor with my head between my knees to keep from passing out.

...Butyric acid takes the second spot. Essence of rancid butter. I deeply regretted my foray into chemistry when one of my students spilled that on herself outside of the fume hood.

Several years ago when I had a pet snake that regurgitated its meal and the house got really hot due to lack of AC and summer.

It was real nice going into a really hot roadkill smelling room or few... Snakes are cute, but I hated the smell/maintenence they bring.

probably anatomy lab. they had vats of dead cats in formaldehyde, and no ventilation. it took about a month to truly get used to the horrible smell.

Alright I've got everyone here beat.

My cat ate a string to a hoodie once. No clue how he got it as we're usually real careful about that stuff, but he did. Almost killed him. He was 100% going to die, but they did surgery to cut him open and remove the string and happy ending. They also gave us the string back in a little...thing. Like a cup that you leave a pee sample in. So after a few days of having this string, we decided to take a picture with it for posterity. You know it was gonna smell bad since it was in his stomach and all gross and shit, but HOLE-E-SHIT. The smell actually almost made me puke. Had I had a full stomach at the time I probably would have. Doubled over right away coughing. It was the most putrid fucking thing ever.

Really hope that's the worst I ever smell cause that was something else.

I think it was the time I was taking care of a stray cat - it was tame enough to let me pet her, but picking her up...oh God. She was loaded with worms and that condition gave her a regular case of Hershey squirts - picking her up, she was bound to shit on your shirt. The smell alone made me gag to the point I nearly puked.

A close second would be the smell of roofing tar - had to tolerate that smell for most of my senior year in high school.

My daughter was 1 or so and had a stomach bug, I was the lucky one who got to stay home with her. She was sitting on the floor and suddenly puked so much she was sloshing in it. That wasn't normal vomit, white and with small chunks, and the smell was so bad I almost puked myself. I have a strong stomach and never once came close to puking over a smell, but that about did it. It's hard to imagine I'll ever smell something worse.

This is a tough one.

Without getting into all the details, it was these long dead anchovies that were continuously blasted by cigarette smoke.

It was a really unique smell. Not like a dead deer on the road, not like puke, not like tonsil stones, not like rotten food, not like anything I'd ever smelled before.

It was worse than all of that.

My friend's cat has... I don't know if it's a condition or what, but he occasionally excretes this extremely foul liquid from his rectal area. As far as I can tell, it's not feces. Some light research suggests that it is an excretion from an impacted anal gland.

On more than one occasion, this cat has hopped in my lap and smeared this substance on my arm. The worst part is that you'll just catch a whiff of it, do an investigative sniff, and be smacked in the face with the full horror of it.

Sweet cat though. It happens infrequently enough that I'm always down to pet and play with him. Plus, the offending substance washes off easily enough.

He did. The vet basically said, "Yeah, that happens sometimes. It's not much to worry about."

You can have the vet express the gland for some temporary relief, but it usually becomes impacted again. I had a relative whose dog had a similar issue (but much more frequent), and that's what they did.

It's like how some people have seasonal allergies; there's not really anything you can do to fix it, but it's not going to kill you.

Plus, the cat is super cute and cuddly. I'm willing to take the risk when I'm there.

Varies based on the woman. Shaved women smell significantly better.

Keep in mind the main thing that stinks is the bacteria. Someone who showered and then hiked for two hours just before you go down on them probably doesn't smell as bad as someone who showered, did normal stuff all day, and then you're going down on them at 1 AM.

Some kid had liquid diarrhea that sprayed all over the floor of the cafeteria. Like somehow all of it shat through his pant leg perfectly bullseyed the floor and started stink up the place.

It kid next him smells it and pukes. Kid across from him pukes after smelling the shit puke fumes. Then like 10 other kids puked. It was insane, like a chemical gas attack went off. It literally burned breathing in that air
