It's not canon to the MCU, they already confirmed that.
"Venom is the first of Sonys new films based on characters from the Spider-Man comics, although its a separate world from last years Spider-Man: Homecoming. Oh, I really thought it was canon. Trying to have that universe without Spiderman as an anchor is even more bizarre.
