Why would someone be offended over a realistic representation of a nazi?

Guilt by association. They feel personal affront as if the joke portrayed on TV was a direct attack on their beliefs and ideologies. As if the show writers were saying all Trump supporters are Nazis, instead of "Oh, this one Nazi happens to be a Trump supporter"

That people get so defensive about it is telling. If you're a Trump voter but you're not racist, or not a Nazi, you should be able to shrug something like this off and say "That's a cheap shot, but it doesn't pertain to me so whatever"

This show makes everyone out to be the bad guy, and goes out of its way to make every religion look ridiculous. Acting like a MAGA hat on a Nazi is a huge deal is a joke. Shit, the hat isn't even brought up in the show it's just there, late night talk shows make fun of Trump and his supporters more often and with more fervor.

The simple fact is that neo nazis support conservatives, and they run for office as republicans. So the real question is... Are conservatives really okay with being in a party that the nazis, white nationalists, etc. flock to?

In an era where it's encouraged to shout down anyone to the right of you as a literal Nazi, I wouldn't be so cocksure of that.

When we're "deplatforming" people whom we disagree with at the drop of a hat and making concerted efforts to ensure that anyone we disagree with politically never works again, it's no simple matter to just "shrug it off".

The right hardly ever does the same thing with their own because if it did we wouldn't have #45. Instwad they double/triple/quadruple down until Fox News can brainwash their base.

We shunned people who called themselves antifa and used violence, as avoiding violence was the entire focus of that movement.
