More like Randy Pitchfork when we show up at Gearbox demanding for answers. Who's with me!?

But in all seriousness, BL2 was definitely my favorite game of 2012 and it still remains one of my all-time favorites. I'm really anticipating the third entry and I'm extra curious to see what they do with it.
Ita been what? 6 years since 2? They're definitely working on something huge.

Only thing they make that is "playable".

I did. It was more of a gigantic expansion pack for 2 but I still liked it for what it was

It was basically just one of those games that wasn't bad but didn't really need to be made on the grand scheme of things since they're not any kind of huge overhaul from the last major game. Just a bit more of the same. Like Gears of War Judgement, God of War Ascension, Halo OTSD, etc

My biggest gripe with it is that you can tell how uncreative the whole process was for the game. Hell, they couldn't even come up with 4 new, unique characters. They had to use 4 existing characters and two of them were bosses in Borderlands 2 that we're quickly forgotten and one is the game's mascot.
Athena is fun though.

They put out hiring calls for Borderlands 3 back in... late 2015 I want to say. They've definitely gotten their updated engine up and running. I think what [rightly] terrifies them is the fear that they won't hit the right balance this time around in terms of humor, longevity, and general gameplay. TPS had nice gameplay improvements, but was marred by a story that fell flat on its face, total lack of endgame to provide longevity, pacing issues for both progression and level design, and the sense that it felt more like a large expansion pack than its own game.

I've been playing Borderlands 1 recently, it was my third time playing it. It's a good game, a bit janky but I like it a lot - mostly playing for the trophies though.

However, I've never played Borderlands 2 all that much. It's only been recently that I've bought the game for myself, before that I'd try to play it with my friends and I just couldn't get into it. Borderlands is the sort of game where I need to sit down with it by myself and get a feel for the game story and the world, and I need a chance to get loot for myself because unless there's an automatic loot dividing mechanic like Diablo 3, I'm awkward at sharing with others.

So I'm just now starting on the Borderlands 1 DLC - I've already finished Dr. Ned, and I'm thinking of doing General Knoxx next. I might have a look on PSNprofiles for anyone who wants to play The Underdome with me, because I beat that shit solo on PC and it fucking suuuuuuuucked. After I'm done with this playthrough - I'm onto Borderlands 2.

I missed out on a cheap GOTY edition of Borderlands 2, instead I got the base game and the DLC pack with a key, a monster creator, a DLC level and the Mechromancer. Are there any DLC options that are must-have for a newcomer to Borderlands 2?

Pretty much all of them. Headhunter packs can be avoided, though the Christmas one is pretty good for getting loot.
