Looks good, can't wait to play this

Reminds me of Deus Ex but in a big city rather than hubs. I can't say I'm blown away by this footage but it has me intrigued.

This is why this is getting hyped so much. CDPR made a excellent game with The Witcher 3 but that as far as I know is the only must play game they have ever done so they still have to prove themselves.

The Witcher 2 was very much considered a must play by most RPG fans, it wasn't as mainstream though due to not releasing on PS and getting a mediocre Xbox port. It paved the way for 3 to become what it is.

This. Their games have only increased in quality and scope over time/as the tech allows and their stance on DRM is reason alone to buy from them whenever possible.

Your point that they still have to prove themselves even after making multiple games, of which one of them that was widely-acclaimed and won multiple awards?

Im not sure what qualifies in your mind as proving themselves but they already did this.

Proving that they are not just a one trick Pony. CDPR are not on the same level as a well established developer yet. Much like Rocksteady with the Batman games. A successful studio would have more than one successful IP under their belt. Cyberpunk 2077 is where CDPR can prove they are capable of making great games no matter what. That's probably one of the reasons why they went with something so drastically different when compared to The Witcher 3. This isn't shitting on CDPR. This is simply saying they haven't done enough yet for me to think "Dude. Its CD Project. It will be good. Game of the Year maybe." no matter what game they churn out like I would do with say R*.

I have to say I agree with this.

There was a time when people said the same thing about developers such as Bioware and Squaresoft/Enix...
Just because a developer has made great games before doesn't mean that they will continue to do so.

Witcher 3 is hands down one of the most well made games I've ever played.
I can't wait to play this.

You're half right imho, CDPR and Rocksteady might only have 1 (really, really good) IP to their name, it also gives you a clear indication of what they're like as a company. CDPR have demonstrated the sort of work they're capable of and where they want to go in term of challenging themselves so you get a good feel for what sort of work you can expect-you get a game from Rockstar, Bethesda or Capcom, you generally know what you're in for but nothing is a guaranteed GOTY until it's out and in our hot little hands.
So based on the Witcher series and the work so far on CP2077 from that fantastic gameplay video, I'm not sure how much more they can do to prove themselves to you but they've built up enough goodwill with me to make this a day 1 purchase.

This is the problem. Why is it a criticism of them to suggest they are still young? It's a criticism of fangirls who hype things up too much. I'm done explaining my point anyway. The bottom line is they need more then one fantastic IP before I bend over and take it, ok?
