This was honestly the most fun I've had in a mafia game that I can recall, except maaaaybe Feast for Crows. But that's one town game and one scum game so they can share the title.

Ironically the fact that I was so high on the game was what contributed to me flying off the handle and raging some when I found out that town had (by my perception, at the time) almost zero chance of winning.

Other random thought, wtf death had like 12 blatant scum brain farts this game. He was claiming scum nonstop lol from the beginning of day 1 even

I'm kinda bummed that so many people asked Chris who the scum was and found out about FD early! I was kind of reveling in how many spectators probably thought I was the last scum and wanted them to freak out when I snipe voted FD

I didn't for a few real life days. I think the hours were winding down on the day han was lynched when I asked.

Funny thing was Chris had mentioned to me previously, unsolicited, that scum had been underestimated. And I feared that meant either Han or Zach still had a vig shot left (which I know is silly, but paranoia, ya know!) so I thought it was really funny when town started worrying that Han might have a vig shot.

So I eventually just asked what he meant by underestimated and he explained the full situation and....yeah. that was not a good time for me to know.

For like 1 minute I thought it was a bitter town, but then I decided I didn't want to think that of anyone who was town. Then I kind of just disregarded it as "doesn't matter".

But it's like in court when the jury is asked to not consider something that happened when making their decision. You can't just forget you heard it. It's kind of a bummer, but oh well, it's just a game.

Chris I had a lot of fun this game.

Chris this game was wonderful and I hope you come back. I admire your writing and your skill in Mafia so I hope to see you return when you can!

I am going to calmly say this that I think FD played one of the worst scum games I have ever seen. He took a role that was suppose to confirm as town to the not very good eye (roles are banned that hurt town for lynching right. His role did not do that) and played so awful and purposely afked and even TALKED town into lynching him with like an hour left on a deadline.

All he has to literally do is shoot someone at night, and he wins this game no contest. Town had no reason to lynch before the game was down to 3 people. At all

It was not my sole decision to no kill that night.

I was also in a position where i had to be worthless or else my survival becomes even more suspect.

You saw when we killed crescent. The quick consensus was "that makes sense. She was active and fd has been shitty". If im not shitty i draw a lot more flak for that night of survival.

Im not under any illusions that i did very well, but i also don't think there was an "easy" path to victory and i just opted not to take it.

This game was fun to read as a spectator - thanks to Chris for hosting (and to the players for all the various twists and turns throughout)! Mafia unfortunately does sometimes bring out the worst in people, but I think B8 is a more interesting place with games running. :)

Zam hadn't gone to the scumboard literally since the day he died and blew up.

At the exact time DragonEnergy posted in the game, Zam was on the scumboard.

So many spectators knew because I told Scare and Han. Both bad very different reactions. Scare was like oh wow I was so close to figuring that out. And Han was like this is bullshit the role is banned and the host is bad. The game doesn't count and he wasted a month of my life playing banned roles.

I am with Scare. I knew FD was scum. There existed absolutely no reason for FD to make that lawyer. Panthera even claimed scum (in jest) just as he did!

Also, Panthera. All you had to literally ever argue at any point was... Just simply another person had to of targeted eaed. That could make you town.

You never once argued this despite it being the only possible town logical conclusion which is why your lynch went the way it did. It is like you couldn't see that situation in town eyes... And you were town!

Looking back now it's pretty weird how day 2 went.

Two town players fake scans on people right away. One target actually is scum, one target is town. The player who faked against the town target drops the bluff quickly and the player who faked against scum sticks to it for nearly a full 24 hours. Despite this the town target is the clear favorite to be lynched, and actually is lynched, then scum swings the lynch onto the scum instead.

Like that is an unusual mafia day.

Yeah I was toying with fd being scum when I was asking red for banned roles because I knew chris ran indy lawyer before

But the fact that panth was town made me toss it aside. I was thinking scum lawyer would may be scum to scum only

Yeah on the scumboard I was pretty upset, because (I thought!) it looked like FD lawyered off of the "confirmed scum Roleblocker" onto Leo out of nowhere (I'm really surprised no one pushed FD very hard WHY he was so sure of Leo), and figured he'd be hammered into the ground the next day for it.

But it kind of...went away? Suspicion came off of Panth pretty strongly the next day, and everyone decided they wanted to give him a chance to "test his mason" instead.

After reflecting and skimming over the scum board I feel like I was pretty much validated in thinking there could still be ninja/gf shenanigans beyond the unscannable and for theorizing about how Dumey's no action didn't have to incriminate tony

I mean I was way wrong with those ideas but look at the reality:

(Disclaimer: yes this is a list of bullet points describing the scum team but it's not a commentary about them being overpowered, that's not my point here)

-scum had verified info that town had no watcher
-scum had a lawyer
-scum had a way to block two targets at once
-scum had a completely hidden extra assassin kill (meaning the flip of detective would leave town thinking there was still a scum role with the extra kill out there somewhere, had they ever used it)
-scum had a detective that learned 2 town roles per night (sorta, could hit vanillas)
-scum had a watcher
-scum had a janitor

-I knew first hand from the get-go that the game had unique twists on roles which wouldn't be revealed by a flip (tracker that can target two people randomly)

I mean there were plenty of ways for scum to fuck with town's heads due to significant information advantage. And in addition to being actually very powerful in that regard, they in some sense amplified my confusion by...not using half their abilities and using one in a very questionable way.

So....I guess what I'm trying to say is....I don't think it should have been considered "obvious" to me that Tony was scum after Dumey's flip. How could it be obvious when the game was literally designed to fuck with information and role norms?

But anyway, yeah the confirmation bias was very high on the scum board when talking about my choices in late game. I didn't guess all the hidden quirks correctly but I feel correct in being open minded and trying to think of other possibilities.

Also I was amused to find that a hefty portion of the scumboard was also dedicated to hashing out bomb logic during the day MZero first revealed the perk to his role.

All I meant was I think it's funny because it was an unusually high number of times for a single game

Like I remember early in day 1 you said something like "the downside to that play would be potentially outing scum" when you meant to say town power

Thanks and that was actually the plan all along beacuse I felt if they just thought I was another generic body gaurd they would have thought I wasn't really a threat and when I realized in twilight I couldn't be blocked I though hey I got the right idea on who to save and my hunch was right. So that was really cool. I was excited. Though i could have done it a little better then I did but still kind of new so I'm still learning some things

Kind of funny that read wise this was basically the best game I've ever had. Figured Leo out super early, figured out FD off one post! before his Lawyering got him off the radar, had Red/Dumey on the radar for ages (on the IGCD lynch, by the end the literal only reason I didn't switch to Red was because everyone thought I was scum and I was worried it would make people less inclined to vote him, plus I still did think IGCD was likely scum so I didn't mind too much, oh well). And despite that it was also probably the most pathetic performance in a long list of pathetic Panth performances.

I owe the game and Scare in particular an apology for being a douchebag. This game has pretty conclusively proven I'm a negative presence in mafia games from both a level of play perspective and an overall entertainment perspective, so I think this is it for me in b8 mafia, and since I know I have a bad habit of changing my mind when I decide to quit mafia, I'd appreciate it if the community holds me to this if I make the mistake of signing up in the future. Sorry for dragging down an otherwise pretty great game.

1.puns: i definitely feel puns played thebest game. Puns was a very good detective and made points super clear and just over all great job

2.Ben: Ben's end game was fantastic. I followed the whole game (a little more of a skim after I was killed off) but Ben the last couple of days was really good and The last day by ben was wonderful.

3. FD- even though he lost I feel he played very well and was very deceptive I was some what shocked when he flipped scum.

Also I was kind of disappointed because Chris started the game without giving us a list of who was on our scumteam and Tony hadn't registered on the scumboard yet, so we had no idea who our 6th member was til the first morning after the game had already started.

This was why Han "catching me" from my after midnight didn't know the team post was so hilarious.

Maybe it was hilarious, but it was right! There was a certain way about how you posted it that instantly registered as Scummy to me.

I don't know if Hangut is luck or if it is actual subconscious memory saying "this is something you have seen Scum say in the past", but when it clicks, it clicks.

Just sucks that you countered a watcher claim then held onto it for most of the game >_>
