Someone who is obsessed with another person typically doesn't know anything about that person beyond what they look like physically. Yet they will try to claim they are in love. They're not in love. They're in lust. Infatuation doesn't really imply that you know a lot about the other person either. I have been infatuated with many people that I never really knew beyond what they looked like physically. I have never gone full on lust though.
