On the "skilled" labor front, depends on what you are looking to do. On the whole, it is actually a pretty good job market though. --- I am a senior software engineer. I have seen people who just spend 10 minutes a week browsing the help wanted ads, and that's all they do. That's not job searching. I have to drive about 30-45 minutes to get to the city, but high tech jobs are still pretty scarce, except for really low-paying entry level stuff.
