Now that I think about it, there was this RTS called Rising Lands that was so obtuse and weird to play that I couldnt get very far in it. I remember thinking I had to time the jumps and then press down on the downward swing, and then later realized I could make them go up faster by holding up, making the jump unnecessary. I could see it being harder if you hadn't played a lot of other platformers before then. I made it all the way to the first Seymour fight with base stats and abilities before giving up. I didn't finish it until years later. This really cracked me up at first. Then I remembered FF8 and how I didn't bother with the draw system the entire game (except when required) and just grinded and got to the final boss through brute force.
