Heh, I did one better. I exposed him and then punched him in the back. When he got to the lobby the rancher blasted him with the shotgun which the staff specially allowed the rancher to carry. So, my hands are clean, the rancher got some justice, and the casino staff have to clean bloody chunks off their carpeted floors. Win win win!

I think you can save and restart the game to avoid that. It's always annoying when you reacquire your entire inventory back for plot reasons, etc.

Stepping on landmines builds character, Calvin.

Although the worst landmine experience I can remember isn't a huge spread of 'em. There's this mountain pass road past Nipton where some enemies occasionally guard (one has a rocket launcher), and there's a landmine hidden under a traffic cone prop. I remember it being rather hard to disarm -- probably blew up 7-8 times, haha.
