Round 2
We start near end-game. You have all built strong bonds on your journey and experienced many events where many incredibly important things happened and characters were developed. The levels of your characters and Pokemon have now been updated (second page of spreadsheet).

For Round 2, you will get one action.

You can go to the [Cathedral] where you can get your loss forgiven as losing is indeed a sin. If you have a loss, it will no longer count towards the 2-loss elimination point although it will still be counted as a loss for future records and purposes. While there, you can pray for either 1 [Character] or 2 [Pokemon] for a small blessing. You can not go to the [Cathedral] if you do not have a loss. If you have a loss and do not have it forgiven, you will be eliminated upon losing once more.

Or you can go to the [Dark Cave] to train. If you choose to train, you can train 1 [Character] or 2 [Pokemon]. How successful your training is will be decided by RNG (some experience is guaranteed).

You can also [Do Nothing]. There is a very small chance of incurring an advantage from this option. Whatever that means.

There will be another head to head battle with randomized matchups in Round 3. The Round 3 Battle will involve your whole team (both characters + 6 Pokemon). Your levels will come into play. Type Clause will be in effect (not the same values though).

Haste I would like you to claim another character as well as 3 more pokemon. i thought i could make it manageable with someone having just one team but it's turning out more annoying than i planned.

Or you can choose the "hero's route" and stick with just your current team but you will be severely disadvantaged going forward.

It looks like not all of the type effects were applied? Bulbasaur and Jigglypuff should have 2x effective advantage in the zyx vs tom match, and Heracross should have a 4x effective advantage in mewtwo vs shonen.

huh I was on my phone earlier so I didn't really see the breakdown of points but looking at it now

Any particular reason for first pick Characters got 2.5x while Pokemon only got 2.0x? Seems rather substantial for something so minor. And is that gonna be a rule for the rest of this game or do all of these points and multipliers change in each round

EDIT: I just saw the Type Clause will be in effect for Round 3, so I guess that answers my second question.

Yeah, looking back on it in every match where someone had the character boost and the opponent didn't the guy with the character boost won. It really feels like that advantage is too big to overcome.

tbh I'm considering withdrawing over that rule, since I'd have used Tear if I had known about that massive advantage. Rise's team just matched better and I was highly motivated to kick the crap out of that jerk. But that's what cost me. And it was something that could have been prevented if I'd known about it.

yeah i was not really happy with how round 1 turned out, hence the option to erase the loss in round two while tying it somehow to the narrative. i didn't want to let go of the idea of characters individually having more weight than a pokemon which was the reason for multipliers. but the real problem was the format in the first place.

but by the time i realized the problem people had already sent in picks and i didn't want to make people redo stuff. so i just decided to go with it and change future formats accordingly.

i really am making this up as i go along. >_>>

well i didn't say much about the rules going in aside from mentioning that your first pick would have a multiplier so i figured most people would at least make sure to bring their first pick.

yea I'm fine with the first pick having a multiplier, just the fact that arbitrarily picking a Character first instead of a Pokemon gave a 50 point advantage, which is quite a bit.

What's done is done and I'm fine with it, just wanted to give you some feedback for the future.

well it was definitely the intent from the beginning to have your first choice being either Pokemon or Character have consequences because that was a choice to prioritize as such. ideally there would have been rounds that favored character first pickers and rounds that favored pokemon first pickers.

I mentioned this to Kate but I really wanted to beat the shit out of eaed because I dislike him so much. That's more the reason it upsets me.

I forgot about that multiplier mention, but I didn't realize it would be the deciding factor. Had I brought Tear, I could have won with the right pick order... even with me picking Dedenne because Tear likes cute things so much >_>
