My last car I got was a used car, it was a 2013 and I got it in Dec of 2013. Guy had it like 8 months I think at most and around 11k miles. But got it for 7-8k less than new (before taxes fees etc) So I'd say that's a win. No I bought a 2006 Honda Accord a couple of years ago. Sure, it's not flashy, but damn, it's a money saver.
All the money I don't spend on a car note goes to basic upkeep and necessary repairs. I'll never lease a car. I wouldn't say buying new or used means a person is poor. What would mean a person is poor is if they own a run down piece of junk clunker that is falling apart. Nobody chooses to own a clunker. People who have a clunker simply cannot afford a better used car.

Hell no, that's all I buy. Like was said why buy new and pay thousands more? I've had an 88 Golf, 95 Cavalier, and am currently using a 03 Civic. It's not like I'm putting thousands of miles on them.

I paid $20k for my 2014 Dodge Ram last year. It would have cost $70k new. I saved $50k by waiting 3 years.

People dont want to be drenched in sweat in the summer and have to ride through ice and snow in the winter in sub zero temperatures. (And for the record, people who take public transportation by choice aren't poor either. i only buy used at the dealership. a new car loses a crazy amount of value the moment you pull it out of the dealership. i always look for cars with low mileage that have barely been used. why pay that extra cash when you can get basically the same thing for a few grand less? doesn't make you poor, it makes you smart, ok?

I seen it where people have gotten a used car, had it check out and everything, and it works fine for like 2 years.
