I don't remember it being a very good cartoon... definitely not terrible by the standards of the era (or even by modern standards, necessarily), but I don't think it ever really stood out for me as being above average even for the time. Shows like Transformers or GI Joe were must-see, rush home from school and avoid doing homework so you could catch them type shows, but Pac-Man was more of a "If it's on and there's nothing else better on another channel I'll watch" type of show.

But then again, the moment I read the topic title the theme song from the show started running through my head, so I definitely watched it enough to burn that music deep into my brain for the rest of my natural life (I mean, I haven't watched the show in like 30+ years and it's still in there).

It probably ranks relatively high up on the list of shows specifically adapted from video games, though. Pole Position had way better intro music, but the show itself was relatively forgettable. The early Mario cartoon was kind of bleh - Mario was really only worthwhile in the The Super Mario Bros. Super Show later on. I only have vague memories of the rest of the Saturday Supercade, with my only positive impressions being of the Q-Bert and Space Ace cartoons (though I'd much have preferred Dragon's Lair over Space Ace, honestly).

I can't think of any other video game shows from that era - but presumably, if there WERE ones that I'm forgetting, that in and of itself says something.

I pretty much agree with everything you said here. I'm putting the Saturday Supercade show on my short list of shows to do for this series of topics.

Of course there's The Legend of Zelda and Captain N: The Game Master as far as later 80s video game shows.

Looking like it's going to be the lowest rated show so far. Currently sitting at 4.08.
