People being lazy caused the obesity epidemic. You can eat shitloads of calories and fat and still be healthy if you exercise. 99% of people just flat out don't do that.

I think what people are eating has more to do with obesity than how much they exercise. My 5 year old nephew is constantly running around but he's still fat. Kids used to not get fat like that. People are eating a lot more sugar than they used to.

Why are they eating more sugar? Because women work more now, and convenient go to processed foods replaced home cooked meals as the normal diet for most people. Hence feminism directly caused the obesity epidemic.

Isn't that when feminism started to take off?

I don't agree with what TC is saying at all, so don't get me wrong.

No its when processed food and junk food started to be largely promoted.
Feminism promoting body acceptance, so fat women naturally feel like its fine to be fat.
Obesity is not feminism fault though

You should become informed before you spout things like this. I'm surprised you even responded in this topic after the verbal lashing you got.

Added sugar in foods happened because of the "low fat" fad that happened with foods. Food manufacturers can lower the fat percentage and increase the flavor by adding sugar.

During the 60s, several studies found that replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats reduced the levels of cholesterol in the blood.

While the scientific community was greatly divided on the issue, several organizations embraced the new findings including the American Heart Association, which urged reducing the consumption of saturated fat.

By 1977, a recommendation was issued by the government to all Americans to reduce the amount of saturated fat in the diet. It is interesting that the obesity epidemic in America started at the same exact time:

kv8adYe

But of course, correlation does not mean causation.

What people did not realize it, is that we would end up reducing saturated fat by replacing it with vegetable oil and sugar, total calorie intake would remain essentially the same or higher. Unlike saturated fats, these foods are not our natural foods, as they are not found in abundance in the diet of a hunter-gatherer society.

You are trying to deny that people eat more sugar because women do not cook at home as often?

What foods have more sugar? Let me give you a hint, not home cooked meals like people ate when women were expected to cook everyday.

The recommendation to eat less fat just conicidently happened at the same time. But if women never started working as much, people wouldn't turn to fast processed microwave food.

Senior citizens started to become obese in notable amounts.

Looks more like young adults started getting fatter faster.
About the only correlation from that timeframe is the emergence of 16-bit videogame consoles.

Main culprit is that people burn less calories and live more sedentary lifestyles than ever before. Modern technology enables obesity. People are indoors snacking on calorie dense food and not moving much, more than ever with widespread highspeed internet.

I think the biggest factor in all this is how we villainized fat and embraced sugar instead. Sugar is way worse than fat is. I'm not saying fat is the best thing for you either, but it won't make you fat like sugar will. Fat actually promotes satiety while sugar just makes you crave more and more of it.

I've been doing my best to break my addiction to sugar, but its so hard to do. ;-; they put it in nearly everything.

Start cooking things yourself.
At the very least, get a vegetable steamer. Steam some carrot, parsnip, or yams for your "sweets" fix.

Increased consumption of high cal processed/fast food as less people have time to cook while getting their soul crushed at a desk job. The american diet has never been low fat lol. It just went from home cooked meals to high fat and high processed sugar, which is the most deadly combination.

My .02 is people don't take accountability for their eating habits. You see people blaming fast food and generally unhealthy foods being too available, and blaming that on why they're fat, but I rarely see them taking their own blame for choosing to eat that way and not hit the treadmill.

Sugar is doable. I'm probably 90% sugar free as of now except my alcohol consumption, which no I aint giving up for a month. I already rarely drink beer anymore and down to vodka and Sprite Zero. Carbs from 20 plus years of drinking got me to where I had to say enough. I'm too big and I don't want weight related health issues.

But I've never been a fan of sweet anything, in general. Like the aforementioned spaghetti sauces on the market .... god I don't how people can eat that shit. Spaghetti isn't suppose to be sweet.
