Looking back on history, who was treated worse, Alfonse Capone, legendary mob boss, killer and Public Enemy Number One, or Paul Manafort, political operative & Reagan/Dole darling, now serving solitary confinement - although convicted of nothing? Where is the Russian Collusion?

The "best" part of that is the "convicted of nothing" part.

that's what the trial is for

Reposting/rewording my last post in the old topic

https://www.csis.org/analysis/us-support-saudi-military-operations-yemen

Officials are very careful in choosing their words regarding the issue, but they don't outright decry the Saudis actions, we continue providing intelligence and non-combat support, and continue selling them hundreds of millions of dollars worth of military equipment

My experience with Danganronpa tells me that if the prosecution is poor at badly designed rhythm games they may find themselves being found guilty.

(I don't know.)

Well their main strategy seems to be challenging Muellers right to bring these charges.

The judge has seemed suspicious that the prosecution is merely using these proceedings to pressure Manafort but other than basically saying "enough already" to attacks on Manafort s character nothing has really gone against them.

It's a jury trial, so it's subject to the issues that come along with that.

Here's a thread that summarizes it well, imo.

https://twitter.com/renato_mariotti/status/1024456060940300289

Key pieces:
14/ One journalist asked me why the government stayed away from discussing Manaforts political work while the defense emphasized it. The prosecution wants to portray this as a standard casethey have enough evidence to convict and dont want to throw a wild card in there.

16/ Even a single juror can hang the jury, which needs to be unanimous to reach a verdict. So if the defense can convince one juror that the prosecution is unfair, that can generate a win. I put win in quotes because a hung jury means the prosecution can try the case again.

The emphasis on Manafort's luxurious life could backfire by making the jury think the reason they are talking about it so much is that they lack strong evidence of crimes.

The whole Russia thing, what I read in What Happened was that hackers tried to influence the election by leaking Hillary's e-mails, and then tried to do the same for other countries' elections like in France but failed. I've said what I think the real problem is multiple times and I won't repeat it unless asked. I'm not sure if we really want more discussion on you-know-who.

Even just geopolitically....the only reason to continue propping up a rapidly deteriorating Saudi regime is our inability to play nice with Iran.

Long term Iran is going to win this conflict with the Saudis. Our removal of Iraq from the equation saw to that inevitability.

So the best thing we could have done was transition from one alliance to another. Which the Iran deal was part of.

Too bad we blew it up for absolutely no reason.

It is an argument. It has to do with how wages work.

When you reduce unemployment wages fall due to a higher job pool which is filled out with lower paying jobs for entries into the pool.

People's pay didn't go down. More jobs were added that were lower paying.

It is like how when Amazon joins an area with like 20,000 new factory jobs. It soaks up all the unemployment with like $12 an hour jobs. Thus, all the new entries into the market are those jobs which are paid lower which lowers the average wage of workers in the area.

People aren't losing money.

Thus, the comment is misleading. "If anyone says they are gaining financially due to Trump is lying through their teeth" is just stupid. I am gaining financially. Like lol?

Corrik, we're talking about a 0.5% change in unemployent rate over the course of a year. The effect that has on mean and especially median wages is insignificant.

You're also presenting it that literally 100% of those jobs are in the bottom of the income range. You don't need very many outliers on the plus side to offset a mean change.

Significant in and of itself for unemployment, sure, whatever. Except I'm talking about the part where mathematically it isn't for the purpose of calculating an average.

Your examples go from a sample size of 11 to 15. That'd be bare minimum a 26.7% decrease in unemployment, and that assumes the sample size of 15 represents 100% employment which never happens, so realistically that's more a minimum unemployment decrease in the neighborhood of 30%.
