It came with my new vehicle lease and all it does is remind me why I don't have cable. 200+ channels of crap.

The only two channels I've listened to so far are Tom Petty and Pearl Jam.

I don't apologise for doing so. If you don't like what I say, tough.

Imagine comparing Sirius to cable

Sirius has far more useful channels than cable does

I got a free year when I got my new car as well two years ago. I liked not having commercials and there was a lot to choose from an listen to. I was thinking of renewing the subscription but it was much cheaper to go with spotify family.

Not to mention being commercial free (aside from the occasional ad for other channels). Are there useless channels? Of course, but personally I feel I get enough out of it to justify the cost.

Absolutely.

I've been so spoiled that I have to switch channels when they pause every few songs and are like "you're listening to soul town, sirius channel (whatever), i'm (name) and what you just heard was one of my favorites" or dumb shit like that where they talk instead of play music. Pisses me off.

I've been spoiled by mostly listening to Symphony Hall, since classical pieces are so long and the talking breaks between them are almost always just interesting historical tidbits that contextualize the pieces. Listening to other channels where you get through 3-4 songs in ten minutes and the DJ starts talking again is just obnoxious.

Still better than commercials, though.

Enjoy getting hounded for the next ten years. I wouldn't use it even it were free for life, why listen to overplayed channels that are a bitch to navigate to when you can just hook up your phone with the aux chord?

I love how some people complain about something that they got for free

To be fair, it's a free trial, and he's expressing his opinion on the idea of continuing to pay for the service beyond that trial period. That's pretty reasonable.

I feel bad for people who listen to the radio only for music source. Indie music is so much better than the watered down least common denominator mainstream music out there.

I've only had it for a month and I've already got 5 emails and 2 adds mailed to me.

I'll have to put on the comedy channel and maybe check out Lithium while I have it.

Normally I just listen to an old iPod via bluetooth with a few thousand songs on random.

If you dont renew it, they send you tons of offers for discounted prices. I got 9 months for like $20 one time.

I've taken advantage of those offers at times. They also have periods during the year where you can listen for a couple weeks free.

Symphony Hall is my default, but a close second is On Broadway, which is show-tunes and pretty much the opposite of 10-minute orchestras; a lot of these songs are like 1-2 minutes and they only do 2-3 at a time, so they get interrupted ALL THE TIME.

Each station plays the exact same setlist on a 6 hour loop. Still preferable to the 45 minute loop you get from mainstream radio but still.

Just negotiate until you're paying 5 bucks for a year. They'll leave you alone for a while, you get cheap music variety, win win.

I defaulted to On Broadway for a while, but drifted away for pretty much exactly that reason. It was a nice variety of music, and usually pretty entertaining, but there was just too much talking about the goings-on in the world of Broadway and not enough just playing the music. I did at least like that those interruptions tended to be at least somewhat relevant to what was being played, though, and not just a pointless "That was like my favourite song." The decade-specific channels (5-10) are pretty bad for that.

"That was like my favourite song."

this triggers me so much

no one gives a flying fuck about the host or their favorite song

plus what else are they gonna say, "that was (x) and it's not very good tbh"

I bought a '13 Silverado and it came with that. I let it expire because I didn't/don't want to pay monthly for it after the trial. It was good while I had it but not worth paying extra. I still have an iPod Classic 160gig so I just use that and never get a song I don't like.

I can't remember if I got it with my '15 Silverado, but likely I did.
