I've heard several people cite the Yahoo recaps for why they prefer it as a fantasy host, but there are a few fundamental flaws I've noticed which make me seriously question the value/effort of their recaps.

Mainly...the fact they tried to give me a critique of my draft, and it didn't even make mention of the fact I had four positions on my roster which were literally empty. Wasn't even relevant to their analysis, apparantly. A swiiiiiing and a missss.

Their draft critiques are solely based on their ADPs. They are totally pointless.

I don't blame them for basing it on ADP as far as which picks were valuable or not. But to program an automated draft critique system and not even put in place a check to see whether they filled up their roster? That's like something a newbie programmer would do without even understanding how football works.

To be fair, not many people are going to explicitly leave a hole in their line-up. I guess Murphy's Law dictates that because someone somewhere will do it, you should account for it, but there's not a lot of value in picking up additional bench dudes in the final rounds of the draft when you're just going to drop them to fill in your IDPs.

Plus Yahoo doesn't know wtf to do with IDPs.

Anyway, those recaps are silly little mad-libs. They don't mean a damn thing. I read them, because I like to be amused, but I don't see why they would be the selling point.

In the past 2 games, Calvin Ridley has scored as many TDs as Julio has scored in the past 24 games.

It's interesting when you want to pick up four targets off waivers and only have one person on your bench you feel comfortable dropping.

How bad will I get burned if I trust him to keep getting the lion's share of the touches after last week? My alternatives are whichever of Cook/Murray plays tonight and my gaggle of questionable receivers (Baldwin, Alshon, Cole, Enunwa, Demariyus), so he looks pretty appealing.

What does everyone think about this trade offer I just got in .5 PPR?

His: Eric Ebron, Geronimo Allison, Devonta Freeman

My: Trey Burton, Matt Breida

Here's the thing, it's a 12 man league but we start so few players that I don't even have Breida starting this week. I feel like when Freeman does come back, he's going to be much more valuable than Breida and Burton combined, I don't even care about the other two guys in the trade.

There's some injury optimism there, but Breida is also banged up and with Jimmy G out for the year, the 49ers offense is going to suffer.

Talk me out of it.

You have to take this then. And honestly, with Jimmy G out, I might agree just because Breida will be seeing stacked boxes all day. Trade feels like he's chasing old points with Breida honestly.

Yeah, the 49ers QB situation makes me think we've already seen the best of Breida.

I just joined this league and it's terrible, so I wouldn't be surprised if the trade gets veto'ed. We're 3/3 on vetos this year and I thought all 3 were fine.

Man trade vetos are such a bad idea even just in concept. Let the commish have it as an 'oh shit' button for blatant collusion and don't let it be a thing otherwise.

That's my policy in all of the leagues I commish. The story in this league, that my buddy invited me to this year, is that some of the guys really got taken advantage of last year and so everyone is of the "fuck trades" mind this year and ruining it.

It's $50 entry so I kind of have to pay attention here, but I don't see myself coming back next year.

We have had to veto trades in the past. We had a husband wife combo where one year they made a blatantly heavily weighted trade towards the wife when the husband was out of it. Nobody called them out on it and the wife rode all the way to the final off the back of it.

They tried the same shit the next year and I immediately called them out on it and got it vetoed. They got super pissed but it was so ridiculously brazen that I cant believe they thought it would fly. It was so much worse than the previous year. It was like the husbands best 2 players plus a throwaway for 3 bench fodder on the wife's team.

It's even more obvious because the husband makes such ridiculous demands when trading with anyone that no way would he agree to getting that shafted without it being collusion. We no longer let them play in the same league together

Hypothetical: They veto our trade, and I try to make it look "more fair" by telling him to resend it 2 for 2. Is Ebron or Allison more valuable?

The TE options are more slim in FA so I'm leaning towards leaving Allison out.

As for Carson, I was debating dropping his before last week but that crazy game made me think twice. I'm not so sure if that's closer to the exception than the norm, however. I think I like him better than most if not all of your questionable receivers though.

I was thinking the same, yeah. My top two RB slots are set with Gurley/Conner. Keenan Allen should still be an every week WR start too. So I have to pick one of those WRs regardless (And it's gonna be tough), but I think Carson is more appealing than picking two, since both of the WRs I want to trust most are fresh off injury (assuming they even play, but both seem to be practicing in full)

Cook is, as I said earlier, also an option. But I'm really not feeling it even if the team says he's the guy and 100% good to go.

I'm fully confident in both so the conundrum is more Carson vs WRs than other RBs unless somebody really wants to sell me on Dalvin Cook tonight.

I would personally trust one of those receivers more, but it'd be good to pick up Carson for bye weeks.

Should I offer Big Ben and Shady for McCaffrey? I have Mahomes, but my other RB's are Lynch, Buck Allen, and I have Mixon stashed. This guy has weak QB's, but he also has Barkley.

That said, I am personally holding McCoy in hopes that the Bills are revitalized by that win and he bounces back. I have a hunch that trade will look a fair bit more balanced in 2 weeks

As a McCaffrey owner in a PPR league, I'd need to be getting insane value to even think about trading him.

It's a 2 QB league, but QB is so deep that, unless I picked both of my QBs after everyone else, I don't see Ben as much of an upgrade. I"m staying far away from Shady and that offense as well.

You'd be pretty lucky to have that trade work out.

Update: the trade got vetoed, and after voicing my displeasure to my friend, he called out the league for being dumb and now veto's are up to the commish, who was not one of the people who voted against every trade.

Now to see if this guy who sent it responds to me so we can get it done.

Doubly so if the trade actually goes through now that the change was made.

I gave up on the 0-3 McCaffrey/Hunt owner who has 4 other startable RBs and only 1 WR ranked higher than 50th.

Gonna try to package Hopkins/Bernard or Evans/Bernard to the Mixon owner for Melvin Gordon. I would be a little surprised if he accepts, but ya never know. He is a bengals fan so maybe that'll help. He's at least more reasonable than the other guy.

Speaking of trades, I found a coworker willing to trade with me, though he wants to wait until after Sunday for reasons we didn't really go into. He needs an RB (I have depth), I could absolutely use a WR (He has depth). Seems pretty simple.

I'm thinking of offering him Carson for Fuller (His #4 WR behind AJ Green, Mike Evans and Juju, and the one he expressly said he was interested in giving), probably throwing in one of my lower-end WR pieces like Cole or Enunwa to sweeten it if needed. Could replace that with Shady if he has a solid week and the Bills continue looking like a real team, though in that case I think I'd rather keep Shady than Carson as my depth/bye week fill-in<_<.

If it were offered right now would you guys take that trade? The trade resources Puns provided earlier says it'd be fair as long as I threw in one of my lower-end WRs. I obviously have a lot of leeway to adjust up/down after Sunday's games by changing my WR offerings.

Alternatively I could try to trade for AJ Green since he values Juju higher (He immediately shot down the idea of trading Juju, but did say he'd listen to offers for Green. Evans didn't come up but I think he's valued about the same as Green so that'd be about equivalent), though I'd probably have to give up Conner in that case since he's super low on Cook. Alternatively, if Shady really gets his on Sunday and Carson stays the guy in SEA, I could make Shady+Carson for AJ work maybe? That feels like a super swindle, but if the guy's desperate enough for RBs, maybe. Even though I'd be trading away basically the entirety of my RB depth.

Thoughts? Should I try to push him to trade something tomorrow so I have a quality startable WR instead of clinging to Carson?

(For full context, my potential trade partner's RBs are Sony, Crowell, Chris Thompson, Philip Lindsay. He also has the big ? Lev Bell in the IR slot. He thinks Sony looked like garbage on Monday but is worth keeping because he should be the main back in NE and doesn't think Crowell can sustain his touchdown pace, which is why he's actually interested in trading for an upgrade. My WRs have been previously listed on this page)

Carson for Fuller is probably a good trade, imo. Granted, I probably wouldn't do it myself since I already have Watkins, Hopkins, and Miller on my team and having the entirety of the Texans offense on my team scares me. I'm probably higher on Fuller than Carson because Watkins has been exclusively targeting him and Hopkins (both have 10+ targets the last two games) and I have no idea how the Seattle backfield is going to shake out till we actually see it.

As far as Green is concerned. Eh. I had him last year and he's actually pretty boom or bust. Like yeah he'll give you huge 20+ point games but he's also prone to disappearing. If it's between Evans and Green though I'm much higher on Evans. That Bucs offense is really good and everyone's getting in on the action.

As for trading now or later I dunno. I'm probably going to try and trade Cook myself but since he plays tonight I can't until next week. There's a lot of teams in my league that need a solid RB and I feel like I have 5 of them at the moment so gonna try and package one or two for another top WR.

He rejected my gio packages so now I'm offering OBJ for Mixon.

Because my keepers were McCaffrey and Cook, it allowed me to go heavy at RB in the middle rounds with Lamar Miller, Carson, and Michel after I went with Hopkins/Fitzgerald in the first two rounds (argh if only I had gone with JuJu). I also knew I could get high upside receivers in the later round and snagged Mike Williams, John Brown, and Geronimo Allison in the 9th round and on.

Person with Michael Thomas is literally starting Jamaal Williams and Ekeler at RB due to injuries so I'm gonna see if I can snag him. Already have someone willing to trade me Tyreek Hill which would be hard to swallow given I could have just kept him as one of my keepers but ah well.

My OBJ was originally my Tevin Coleman + Keelan Cole. I'd trade those two for Mixon since it gives me the Mixon/Bernard combo and I have a workhorse RB in that slot basicaly guaranteed all year. And I can afford to give up a WR and still have Hopkins/Evans with Tate/Enunwa (and Davis..) as my flex/fillers.

He's "definitely going to consider it".

Oh I'm aware that's probably the case. Just depends on how desperate they are for RBs. Trades are eligible for keepers now as well so there might be more value to those latter round RBs than in a normal league. Depends on how the rest of the year shakes out for that though.

Ok, following up on my above trade talk, I'm going to verbally offer the following two as starting points in an hour or so:

Carson + his choice of Alshon or Baldwin for his choice of Green or Evans (he seems to value them equally so I'll leave it open)
Carson + his choice of Enunwa or Cole for Fuller + Mike Williams (who he has indicated he's interested in moving as well, and thinks I'm super low on)

First trade is obviously shooting for the moon but I'm hoping he takes it as a starting point instead of disregarding it. The problem with it is he refuses to buy Cook at any price (even understanding the snap count last night and that he'll be back in full next week) and I won't move Conner here because I think Conner for Green or Evans straight up is overpaying on my part given how hard it is to replicate a legit bellcow RB.

Wish me luck guys. I have confidence the second will go through easily if it comes to it since he basically proposed it, but swinging some version of the first without giving up Conner would be cool.
