Prison overcrowding is mostly due to bullshit marijuana laws. And prisons are a business. They work with cops to bring in customers

Plus prison overcrowding isn't an accurate metric of lawlessness. The crime rate is relatively low.

Christianity has the 10 commandments which are the laws for their religion. I imagine that would be the judge of lawlessness for them and not the individual laws of the countries.

Shintoism is focused on this life. there IS an afterlife mentioned but the doctrines don't really discuss it very much. in Japan, most of the stuff believed about the afterlife comes from Buddhism.
