Yeah but this was still always gonna come back to bite him. I can't say I saw him getting FIRED coming, but all if this being dredged back up was inevitable.

Not only is this stupid because it's caving to an entirely artificial politically motivated outcry against somebody who made their career (and was hired) on this stuff (and had already apologised) but with the Fox purchase Disney controls nearly half the film industry, which Gunn is now blacklisted from. This is bad.

Well I wouldn't say I like Full Throttle beyond not finding him annoying enough to block but I do think his posts on average contain more thought provoking material and insight than LapisLazuli's so I figured I'd point out for giggles some reasons why Full Throttle's topic was directly superior to this knockoff after LapisLazuli proudly proclaimed he had FT blocked.

I'm not surprised anyone would have Full Throttle blocked though, nothing against the guy, but his news topics can get annoying if you don't already have the innate ability to ignore people. There's a lot of them, and his titles always involve LOTS of unnecessary caps LOCK.

Not good for press.

I want to say I make enough pointless posts that thinking I'm cool probably doesn't outweigh the bad taste points from liking LapisLazuli.

I'm not sure how I feel about James Gunn being fired. The reasoning is most definitely stupid... but people are saying this makes for a higher chance that Nova will appear in the next movie. And I want that more than anything I can currently think of.

I've got mixed emotions on this. I liked James Gunn in spite of his politics. His PG Porn series was hilarious. I've got a feeling the heart and soul of the GotG movies is going to go missing for the third installment.

On the other hand, I've seen this tactic of dredging up old comments in order to discredit someone used far too often. If there's backlash from this, maybe people will be less likely to apeshit about long dead history. Or maybe it'll just intensify, I don't know.

To me that's what makes it particularly egregious if it's true (I don't exactly follow Gunn enough to know). Putting aside whether offensive jokes should be grounds to fire someone to begin with, at that point it should be considered kinda water under the bridge-- a bridge that has been standing for 6 years. I don't think necessarily everyone deserves a second chance just for free, but if you show remorse instead of trying to blame someone or whatever, you should definitely get one as long as it's nothing too extreme you did.

If he apologized and is doing a good job though? Yeah, definitely kinda weird to fire him now. Feels more like giving into terrorism than actually a deserved firing. I could see them trying to go back on the firing once things settle down a bit (or GotG 3 flops!)
