Finally going to pull the trigger this week. A lot of suggestions for Xbox but I kind of think PS4 has more exclusives. What are the must haves that are exclusives so I can get in on this generation before it dies away

How do you define exclusive? Because the Xbox One has a decent amount of console exclusives. They are however almost entirely on PC. If exclusives are the defining factor get a PS4, but even that is only a handful. If say Bloodborne/Uncharted/God of War/Horizon don't mean much to you just get whichever platform you think will be a better place to play multiplatform games.

It's hard to even make a case for owning an XB1. PS4 basically gets the multiplats and the Japanese stuff.

Add Forza Horizon 2, Quantum Break, and Halo 5 for the XB1 list.

I do not know how big of a factor controllers are for you, but you might want to get your hands on one for each to see if one is significantly more suited for you than the other.

I've been playstation my whole life so figured ds4 wouldn'tbe a big change. I had a 360 so that wasn't an issue. How big are the changes from those generations?

Everyone had a 360 during the early years of the 7th gen. These days everyone has moved back towards Sony and the PS4 again.

Personally, I prefer the DS3 to the DS4. It has better weight distribution and joysticks imo. I think that the XB1 controller is a nice evolution from the 360. I am also a huge fan of the asymmetrical joystick layouts.
I do not know of your gaming habits, but if you play online, Microsoft has the better infrastructure in place and enables cross-play when applicable.
