1 inning, 2 strikeouts, and only one hit allowed? Not bad. But being able to throw a 68 mph curve, and then go to a 90 mph fastball is a bit bonkers for a position player.

I'm wondering if there needs to be a forfeit option. It's bad as a fan since we like seeing position players pitching, but it's clear that the D-Backs knew they weren't going to win and weren't trying to win after a certain point.

Oh come on, they're pro athletes. They can handle sitting through a blowout every now and then.

I'm surprised we don't see more teams in blowouts do what the D-Backs did, have position players pitch half the game. I think pro teams are too prideful to admit they'd consider a forfeit if it was an option, but it was obvious they were content to take the L and would rather save their bullpen.

It would be kinda funny to spend $40 or whatever on baseball tickets and in the fifth inning your team just gives up.

I have a college friend I've seen once in the past like four years who texts me sometimes about baseball. He's an aspiring stand up comic. He has a show in St. Louis next month with his country music parody band and he sent me the Facebook invite today. My life is over / I kind of want to watch this extremely badly

Sports in general are kind of just boring to me now. It's basically the same thing every year when you think about it. Well, not the same exact thing, but there are like three or four main archetypal storylines and I've seen em all at this point

Even though the Giants aren't great, I would still go to more games if I had the money. But for the most part, I haven't watched sports in at least a year. I just read the headlines.

Wow, Isaiah Thomas went to the Nuggets. That was really out of nowhere. Good signing though, veteran's minimum. Worth the risk.

Also they traded Kenneth Faried and Darrell Arthur which I believe finally takes care of all the salary dumping they needed to do

It's the new Square-Enix RPG that's like a 2D/3D hybrid where you pick one of 8 main characters and pick up the rest on the way.

There's a demo on the eshop where you can play the first 3 hours and carry it over to the main game should you decide to purchase. Full title is Octopath Traveler.

I have Octodad on steam...got it in some bundle. It's good for about 5 minutes of laughs but not much beyond that. I'll have to pass on the Switch version

My mom bought it for me for my birthday - again, it was my birthday last week - but only as a preorder because it was literally the only game I could think of to ask for and she always buys me a game since she loves spending money on me. So I'm going to go to her house after work and grab it. I'll share my thoughts in the coming days

Also our IBM system thing is down at work so I can't do anything. I can't do my job or help with the job I used to do. I just have to post on gamefaqs until it's fixed.

I'm watching them in order from oldest to newest. Up next is Princess Mononoke. Everyone says it's really good so I'm sure it'll be high on the list. I'll update again once I'm finished with the rest of the movies.

The only one of those I watched in my Ghibli kick this year was My Neighbor Totoro. I thought it was cute but nothing mindblowing. It made me sad a couple of times too. My rankings of what I watched:

Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
My Neighbor Totoro
Howl's Moving Castle

I liked them all ok but loved the top two. Howl's is visually stunning but I really lost the plot

Also I'm getting near the end of Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's becoming one of the craziest things I've ever seen which I actually like. The slow reveal of how insane everything actually is has been quite satisfying to watch, enough that I can get past the hyper sexualization of 15 year old girls

Octopath Traveler is a dumb name so I refuse to play it. Same with Bravely Default and like every Kingdom Hearts subtitle. What's the deal with Square

Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy are also stupid titles, you just don't think about them in those terms at this point. Dragon Quest is fine but generic. I don't think they can do worse than Bravely Default or Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days though

I remember complaining about 358/2 Days when it came out and some PotDers were like "actually if you beat the game it makes sense" and I did beat the game and I still don't know why it was "over 2." However it is called 358 days because it takes place over 358 days. As we all know it makes perfect sense to name your game the number of days it is set in.

The over 2 might refer to how Roxas and Xion are sort of a split personality. Or something. Sorry for spoiling the DS spinoff for Kingdom Hearts

I didn't realize this but Star Ocean was an Enix property. That's interesting because it and Dragon Quest were two of the biggest gets from combining the two companies on the Enix side, but also both are fine and sensible names for RPG series. Unfortunately they're a lot less popular than the Square counterparts.

Also, these are Namco Bandai games, but what about the Tales of... series? They just make up a word to finish those names and they don't mean anything. I've completed a handful of those games and played many of them and the names never have anything to do with what happens in the game! And even when they're not made up words (e.g. Tales of the Abyss) they still have no bearing on the story or setting or anything.

Antonio Senzatela hit the DL so the Rockies now have a dreaded "spot start" night, but they were already setting up to have one tomorrow, so they recalled Jon Gray. I don't even know if he pitched more than one game in AAA and IIRC I read the results weren't very good

Sorry for spoiling the DS spinoff for Kingdom Hearts

I love Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, but spoilers for the rest of the games is like rocket science to me. You can try explaining it but I'm never going to understand. I'm going to play 3 and hope they reel the story in a bit, although I'm sure that's asking too much at this point.

It's worth watching just because it's so iconic and influential. Speaking of which I'm seeing Akira in two hours at the movie theater, the other most influential anime, this time in movie format. Never seen it either but I'm excited

Do you guys use electric razors. I had an electric trimmer that I used but it broke so I took a leap of faith and bought one of those electric razors and I've never used one before. I'm worried I've made a terrible mistake

No, I just use a trimmer but the battery lasts about 3 minutes after an hour of charging so it needs to be replaced soon. Let me know how your death machine works.
