This. If they put the poll back on the message boards home page, I would remember to vote every day.

Not at all surprised. Nobody cares about forums anymore and GameFAQs has always shifted to older demographics, and is now primarily a 30+ demographic with a dying userbase because its purpose has been served and newer games do not need FAQs because they're too easy.

Yeah I get this. And the fact that Reddit took a huge portion of this websites demographic. But its just kind of depressing when you actually see the numbers like that.

As someone whos posted/lurked on these boards since 2005 its kind of sad to see the boards slowly dying off.

Reddit has destroyed online gaming communities as a whole, not just GameFAQs.

It's not just Reddit, it's the social media stuff like Facebook (where people are in their own groups and whatnot).

Less and less people visit forums in general. As I see the fall off from every forum I go... whether it's GameFAQs or sports teams I like. People like being in their own little bubble where people tend to agree with everything they say only. They don't want to argue or have a difference of opinion with people from message boards.

But yeah, that number is depressing and it's not going up anymore in the future that's for sure.

If you make an intelligent post, people tend to ignore it because they only respond to stupid. Don't believe me? Just look at most of the chained replies.

Lower activity doesn't mean dying, it just means lower activity. And the only people who believe it's dying were born yesterday.

I'm not saying whether the site is dying or not, but couldn't lower activity also mean the site is dying. Before a site dies, it would probably have lower activity...

6 posts were bumped within the minute. Does PotD even do that now?

Also I really need to back up my Dropbox / <banned domain> / Photobucket archives to something more stable like a flash drive.

Also RIP rlaur2. He was a cool chap as well.

Random snapshot from 2009:
https://web.archive.org/web/20090204033109/https://gamefaqs.com/boards

I'm about to go to bed buy have fun. You'd have to find the old URL to that page as it changed in 2009.

So 6000 was not too unusual. I'd like to see some 2005 numbers. I remember FFXII's launch and how chaotic that board was.

Kind of like how Pokemon Go is dead now because its activity peaked during the first two months, right?

I can understand this when people on Message Boards sometimes troll just to troll. I would not blame someone for not wanting to deal with that. Gamefaqs has a lot of that tbh.
