Well, I hate sauerkraut and corned beef, rye bread is pretty terrible, and swiss cheese is one of the blandest cheeses I've ever tasted (I have no problem with it, I'd just go with most other cheeses before it).
Overall an utterly disgusting sandwich and I can't help but laugh at how it's like someone tried to take everything I hate and put it all together.
Made the mistake of trying it once, because my friend assured me that everything together makes it better than the sum of its parts, or whatever. The awful smell alone should've turned me off, but good sport that I am, I actually tried eating the thing. Tried. It came back out onto a napkin....

That's a pretty solid reason not to try one. You could always try making your own, provided you like the ingredients well enough to use them in other recipes if it turns out you don't like the sandwich. You'll waste much less money if you don't like it, that way.

There's a place down here that's supposed to be known for their Rubens but the meat was piled high and tough and bland. Their Russian dressing was pretty bland as well. I realize it might be hard to get a decent one out of some restaurants even if they specialize in it. Most other deli meat sandwiches are pretty fool proof.

Made my own, slow baked dont boil, and seedless rye(those seeds give me a headache.) And made a sour cream variation of the Russian dressing and it's one of my favorites. Only thing I hate about ruebens is that they cut into my corned beef hash supply.
