There are so many people in my company that insists on using Word instead of the File Explorer to locate and open files... Who taught people to do that?!

How would you use Word to locate files?

They open Word, then click on Open, and then search for files and opens them using Word regardless if the file is a Word document or not. Makes me slam my head against my desk.

And my company has over 20 offices around the US, and there is almost at least one person in each office that does this. Who could be teaching them this?!

Computer illiteracy drives me crazy. I don't know how you can survive in 2018 and not understand concepts like downloading files or the difference between previewing the file in Outlook and opening it in the actual software to edit it.

How? Just had someone ask me why this file is only showing gibberish instead of a picture... The person was trying to open a image file using Word. Showed them the file explorer and had them double click it there and it opened just fine with Windows Photo Viewer.

I had one guy trying to convert a word document to PDF and instead of asking since he apparently didn't know you could just "print to PDF", he found like a page 6 search result for "convert documents online"... ugh.

I was covering a building two weeks ago, where the guy actually had trouble logging into the computer. As in, he was at the login screen (already logged in but locked), and then asked me what to do next. All he had to do was press Enter. This happened at least twice.

Mind, he has to use a computer as part of his duties.

I have never encountered anyone that uses Word to open all files. I work in an IT organization, though, so no one is really computer illiterate.

I've had to walk through someone how to spell their username letter by letter, when it was the first letter of their first name followed by their last name.

I had a boss would email screenshots by taking a photo of the screen with her digital camera, print it, scan it to herself, and then forward the scan to me.

I once spent a solid 10 minutes explaining to someone how to go to File > Open to open a file in a very basic program. The program had the standard "File | Edit | View | Tool" menu at the top of the window but for whatever reason he just couldn't grasp it. When we ended the call I thought the nightmare was over, but he called me back about a half hour later saying he still couldn't figure it out. Only God knows wtf he was actually doing that whole time.
