Yeah, 2001 sucked for what happened to the United States, but besides the bad stuff, I'm starting to miss 2000-2006; I was in high school (graduated in 2004) and just those years were amazing for video games and times were a bit simpler. People weren't complaining on social media because it wasn't really a thing (unless you count AOL chatrooms and the early days of MySpace). I'll always miss the 90's, but here lately, for me, the 2010's have been going downhill. I think the only good things I'll look back on for this decade will be the Resident Evil 2 remake and possibly Shenmue III haha! Does anyone here miss the early 2000's or good riddance to those years?

REmake is the best RE game.
Silent Hill 2, Fatal Frame, etc.

People are cold-hearted and have zero empathy and compassion nowadays, so video games and anime are the only things left that make life worth living tbh.

Nah, the 2000s were kind of awful. The music was trash and while the gaming was good overall, the 90s were better.

My nostalgia soft spot is always mid-80s to mid-90s. Maybe even early 80s if I'm being charitable.

The 90s will always be my favorite for gaming, movies, music, tv shows, being outside on those warm, Summer days with friends and family, and even the commercials were better, too! I do miss the early 2000s when it comes to gaming and was an interesting time where we were heading; all of these science fiction and spy movies were all the craze and how they still had that pre-HD/late 90s look to them, the post-grunge scene was great looking back, but it was mainly gaming that I miss from the early to mid 2000s.

It was true in the 2000s as well, and the 1990s before that, and the 1980s before that, and so on.

It was true in the 2000s as well, and the 1990s before that, and the 1980s before that, and so on.

Before social media you'd think to yourself 'this is an isolated character, it can't be this bad everywhere'. After social media, it removed all doubt that society is hopeless.

Nobody is even alive from those times. Nostalgia begins with 2014 and hatchimals.

This goes hand-in-hand with the phenomenon where we think the world is a far more violent, dangerous, and crime-ridden place than ever before, because we now currently hear every minor incident 20 minutes after it happens, even if it takes place thousands of miles away (and the 24-hour news cycle and ratings-driven news media industry encourages most news sources to dig harder for stories and to sensationalize the fuck out of whatever they have).

But in reality, a lot of violent crime statistics (and youth crime statistics) are currently hovering around an all-time low for the last 100 years or so of recorded data.

Living in the Information Age has its drawbacks. A complete and total lack of realistic perspective being one of those things.
