I played it on Wii U, but I'm considering getting this version. It seems like it has enough new stuff to be worth it.

I already bought all of the DLC though, does the Switch version have even MORE exclusive stuff? Like Funky Kong and Blastoise?

It has all the stuff that was exclusive to the 3DS version, so theres a few story missions and adventure maps that would be new if you never played that and bought its DLC. Other than that, just BotW outfits for Link and Zelda. (The new characters - including the DLC characters - for 3DS were DLC on Wii U so they wouldnt be new unless you missed that set somehow.)

I'm not too bummed about no unlockable characters since I like the "one a month" thing they're doing with the DLC characters. It gives you a reason to keep coming back instead of just unlocking everything at once.

Ehhh, it's basically just extra characters that likely should be in the base game but are instead being used to keep the retention rate higher. Also it'll feed into their online service.

Instead of unlocking these characters over the weekend you just have to log in and at some point give them a few bucks over the span of like 6 months to a year.

It's not the worst thing but it does feel a little transparent.

I've been on the fence about a Switch and it's actually Mario Tennis that is getting me to pull the trigger this Friday on it. (It's also my birthday and a culmination of gifts is going to cover about 2/3 of the cost)

I want to trade in my 3DS but I still haven't played the first Xenoblade game and want to before getting the second. I also have a living Pokedex sitting on PokeBank and as far as I know, there's no way to transfer that to Switch while I wait for the next mainline game.

The switch is the new GBA, the new pokemon fence. We've never had a second one before

you couldn't take RBY GSC into GBA but you could take GBA pokemon all the way to the current ones

I just remembered my girlfriend has a 3DS collecting dust, so that solves my Xenoblade issue. Now if only I could get my Pokebank on her 3DS, I'd have no use for my own.

Yeah if you think Nintendo won't solve the 3DS -> Switch Pokemon transfer somehow, you're just being foolish. Especially since VC versions of RBYGSC can be sent to Pokebank and Gen VII games.
