Yeah but I think that was just third-party/indie stuff so far. A first party game like Captain Toad seems to suggest Nintendo isn't fully ready to kill of the 3DS, or doesn't know what to do with it.

They also did for things like FEW & a few other First party titles, I thought... But maybe Im misremembering. I figured it would die yet, anyway. Itll probably still be a little while...

It's decently portable. It's size is large enough that you won't be able to store it in your pocket easily (unless you have huge pockets or a coat) and it's battery life is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours; but it's otherwise pretty portable. If you bring along the charger and are going somewhere with sockets you can play forever. The carts/cards are fairly small and robust as well so you can cram them into a small bag and have, like, 50 games on you in your bag; not to mention digital download titles. You'll want some way to protect the screen when not in use though. Cases can be purchased to help with that and basically eliminate all problems aside from battery life.

They are still the cheapest of the current generation though I also dislike the price point. That's just newer games though. You can typically get older games for a lot cheaper, and there are plenty of great ones.

It's also worth noting that it charges via USB-C, so you may be able to use your phone charger instead of having to bring a dedicated one.

They are still the cheapest of the current generation though I also dislike the price point. That's just newer games though. You can typically get older games for a lot cheaper, and there are plenty of great ones.

I guess I'm spoiled with PC gaming where sales and decent free games exist in abundance

I am too. Another reason I hesitate to buy a Switch. I'd love something mobile, but PC gaming is just so much cheaper than consoles.

Srsly it's rare I pay even 20 dollars for a game these days. Then Nintendo has the pricy games and pricy DLC. The DLC is quality at least but yeah no free content updates for that stuff.

Nintendo does some free content updates, particularly for multiplayer stuff. That's more for their consoles than the 3DS, though.

Yep. Like Splatoon and Splatoon 2, for example. And its pretty consistent. New levels, weapons, and clothes. All free.

And for HWL. A new map and character. The rest cost, but that character and map were free...

Yep, I love fighting games. Don't really commit to them as much as I used to, as I don't really have that kind of drive anymore, but I still have fun with them.

I should be starting a new job nearing the end of the month. The first couple paychecks will go to some essentials, but after that, I'm going to start looking into a switch. I'd love to hook it up to my PC monitor.

My other "active" systems are 360, PS3, and the X1, but I don't really play them so much anymore. The X1 is really just my WO3U machine whenever I feel like playing it lol

I mostly play on PC. This generation of consoles really drove me to invest on that end and it's paid off considerably.

I legit don't even bring my 3DS when I travel anymore (and I travel a lot). I just bring the Switch. Whether in a car, on a plane, or in a hotel room, the Switch is great and just keeps getting better.

I like that I can just keep playing. Play at home before trip, play on play, play in hotel if I get one. And I can go from tv to handheld, back to tv. It is nice that I can do that. Not to mention, I want something like this since Pokemon stadium was out. Haha. Although, I hope that the new Pokmon game isnt handheld only...

I know that you have no reason to really leave your home on account of not working or being in school, but the DS wasn't exactly a comfortable fit when you've got other stuff in your pockets (excluding something like cargo shorts/pants which aren't appropriate in most work settings -- something you'd know if you worked) and the Switch is even longer.

It's possibly been a while? I remember that in 2004 or 2005 when I was going to Mexico, there was still shit about not being allowed to use electronics for good portions of the flight so I just brought a book. Mostly just driven in recent years.

Unless you carry a backpack, purse, briefcase, or man purse (messanger bag) you CANNOT bring a switch with you places.

I hate nintendo for forgetting about 3ds. That actually can fit in your pocket. Even the xl although thats still a bit difficult depending on your clothing and body size/shape.

They sell external batteries to extend the battery life of the Switch (you can't just use any external battery for phones because the Switch has a different voltage requirement), but that arguable limits how portable it is unless you carry a bag for everything around with you.

Which is okay for long trips because you'll have a bag anyway, but might not be okay for daily activities.

My biggest regret with the 3DS is that it's fucking hand cramp city. At least the New 3DS XL is, I have no idea about other models.

I can't recall many issues with the standard 3DS. I still haven't bought the New 3DS, mostly because I wanted one of the smaller units and missed getting that special edition during Black Friday some years ago and thought it was going to be just a regular thing. The standard is *already* larger than I like and I have zero interest in getting the XL.

Yeah I kind of wish I had waited until I knew they were going to make a foldable 2DS. I think that got announced only a few months after I bought mine. Although I think it's a similar form factor? But I'd still take the reduced price to sacrifice 3D

I don't actually use the 3D that much, but I still love the novelty of having it and it *does* look amazing with a few games -- particularly KIU's flying segments.

Which Mead seems unable to process is the biggest issue for me. (As opposed to Leo, who just trolls about that kind of stuff.) That's one of the most important benchmarks of a portable system and one of the big reasons I never liked the PSP.

So like most gameboys lol I used to always get the extra battery pack (well my mom did, she was also a gamer hahahaha she was born in the 60's) So i am used to it. I was thinking of getting a xbox for my next console but with the announcement of ultimate smash, I am stocked.
