It's size is large enough that you won't be able to store it in your pocket easily (unless you have huge pockets or a coat) and it's battery life is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours; but it's otherwise pretty portable. If you bring along the charger and are going somewhere with sockets you can play forever. The carts/cards are fairly small and robust as well so you can cram them into a small bag and have, like, 50 games on you in your bag; not to mention digital download titles. You'll want some way to protect the screen when not in use though.
