Canadian MP's from ALL parties voted unanimously to support Liberal Leader, Justin Trudeau to RETALIATE against America on Tariffs if Trump imposes Tariffs on Canada's auto industry!!

NDP trade critic, Tracey Ramsey, a socialist party mp, has called on the House to "stand in solidarity" with the Liberal government in its decision to retaliate against "illegitimate" tariffs imposed by the US government on steel and aluminum imports as she says it's critical to stand in unity at this "difficult moment in time"

The motion also rejects disparaging attacks by US officials stating they do a "disservice to bilateral relations and work against efforts to resolve this trade dispute"

Her motion also says MP's remain in solidarity in support of Canadian farmers and supply management that is integral for dairy, chicken, turkey and egg farming.

This is a rare united front from all parties, including the Conservative Party who support Trudeau in imposing steep tariffs after Trump criticized the Prime Minister publicly and called him "dishonest and weak" just after another official, Larry Kudlow described him as a double crosser and tried to make Trump look weak.

All 338 members of parliament voted in unity to advise Trudeau to retaliate as even AMERICANS on Twitter are supporting the move and support Canadians..

idk, a trade war with Mexico hurts Mexico more since their economy depends on the US. Otherwise, meh. It's true that we're being undercut thanks to nations with few labor laws and that we're running massive year-to-year trading deficits which may cost us in the long-term but, you know, that's future America's problem.

Trump's citing national security as a means to work around the WTO's restrictions on tariffs. If the tariffs in question have nothing to do with national security (which they don't), then they're illegitimate. That's not exactly complicated.

I feel bad for Americans. Trump is trying to make an enemy out of Canada. He's doing this to help ease Americans into being more comfortable with the fact he's become buddies with Putin.

There literally isn't a single country on Earth that agrees with the US on this. History has never treated countries that cross Canada well. This idiotic move is going to hurt the US really bad.

Even without getting into the idea of crossing Canada, these tariffs are just a bad move in general. Bush tried putting similar tariffs on steel and cost the US 200,000 jobs as a direct result. And for all Trump's posturing on NAFTA and how the US has such a major trade deficit, the US actually has a trade surplus with Canada. Renegotiate NAFTA to make sure it is actually best for everyone, sure, since these things are complicated and obviously won't be gotten right the first time (personally, I'd love to stop having to pay $4 for 2L of milk because the dairy industry is milking NAFTA more than they milk cows), but making up a deficit to play the victim just looks stupid.
