Per CDPR. E3 trailer had a hidden message:

Its been over 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGI trailer, gave some interviews and went dark. Normal procedure for these kinds of things you announce a game and then shut up, roll up your sleeves and get to work. We wanted to give you the Witcher 3 and both expansions first, which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.

As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine, we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077s pre-production. But we chose to remain silent. Why? At she point we made the decisions to resume talking about the game when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial. This is because we do realize youve been impatiently waiting for a very long time, and we wouldnt like anyone to feel that were taking this for granted. On the contrary it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be real, too :)

But to the point. Today is the day. If youre seeing this, it means you saw the trailer. - our vision for Cyberpunk, an alternative version of the future where America is in pieces, megacorporations control all aspects of civilized life, and gangs rule the rest. And, while this world is full of adrenaline, dont let the car chases and guns mislead you. Cyberpunk 2077 is a true single player, story-driven RPG. Youll be able to create your own character and well, youll get to know the rest of what show at our booth at E3. Be on the lookout for the previews!

Before we finish, you probably have some questions,

1. When?

When we told you we would only release the game when its ready, we meant it. Were definitely much closer to a release date than we were back then ;) but its still not the time to confirm anything, so patience is still required. Quality is the only thing that drives us. Its the beauty of being an independent studio and your own publisher.

2. How big?

Seriously big, but to be honest, we have no bloody clue at this point in time. Once we put it all together, we will openly tell you what you can expect. And we promise well do this before we start talking about pre-orders or ask anything of you.

3. Free DLC/Expansions/DRM

Expect nothing less than you got with The Witcher 3. As for DRM, CP2077, will be 100% DRM-free on PC.

4. Microtransactions?

In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?

CD Projekt Red are the best developers in these last few years.

Judging from witcher 3,

They dont use those pre-order or you have content locked out bullshit like RDR and many other games

They dont use microtransactions like buying armour and exp boosts which is like what assassin creed games do and deus ex had buying consumables too.

They dont have DLC like mini story missions. Instead they give you 2 massive expansion packs each can be called their own game because they were so much content. Heart of stone took me around 15 hours to 100% and Blood and Wine was so massive it took me like 25-30 hours or something. And most important of all, they were fucking amazing.

They are DRM free, i dont need to open GOG nor have internet connection to play the game.

On top of all that, Witcher 3 is actually fucking good with a packed full of content. Its easily the most satisfying purchase i have made in games since we first moved into HD gaming.

CD Projekt Red are the best of this generation hands down.

Worry not. When thinking CP2077, think nothing less than TW3 huge single player, open world, story-driven RPG. No hidden catch, you get what you pay for no bullshit, just honest gaming like with Wild Hunt. We leave greed to others.

This right here is one of my biggest problems with games these days; not getting the 100% complete game unless you buy it on day one. I missed out on content from some of my favorite games, just because I didn't even have a PS4 when they released.

It's adapted from Cyberpunk 2020 with the game being set 57 years later.

Same, and usually I try to be understanding of monetization practices. I know at the end of the day they're out to make money off of us, but some companies keep pushing it as far as it can go to see what they can get away with. Glad to see consumers are finally pushing back, I just hope the industry listens and can figure out a way to turn a profit without bleeding us dry.

There was a tabletop RPG called Cyberpunk 2020 that nobody really cared about.
It was 80s as fuck, but Shadowrun existed and everyone prefered that.
