Had everything set to go and hopefully land a job at this job fair like event. Hair freshly cut, appropriate attire, etc. Time is tight and I HAVE to be there by 10:00, and I use public transportation. I'm making good time, but as I'm nearing the station I can't recall if I locked up or not.

As you can imagine, that bugs the hell out of me. Can't stop thinking about how much I can potentially lose if I left my door unlocked and I'm gone for an hour or more. Also can't stop thinking about how good an opportunity this event is. In the end I went back, meaning I damn sure didn't have time to get to the event because I missed the bus. And the fun part is, the door WAS locked. So now I'm sitting at home filling out applications on Indeed and kicking myself in the nuts.

tl;dr: Didn't go to a job fair I'd been prepping for because I was worried I didn't lock my door. Door was locked, now I'm mad.

you must not live in a very nice neighborhood if knowing your door was unlocked made you feel that nervous

Sounds like you have OCD or some other anxiety disorder.

No seriously, you should see a psychiatrist, especially if this kind of thing bugs you on the regular.

Nope.

You could have gone to the job fair stressed out and ended up causing a scene or having a panic attack. Could have cost you some future opportunities. That didn't happen, so look on the bright side.

Trying to. I do feel good about some of these job offers I'm seeing online.

Your stereotypical bad neighborhood. Assaults, shootings, and thefts are regular occurrences around here. Add to that the fact that management removed the locks to the building itself and have yet to replace them(leaving a big, obvious hole where a nob should be), anyone and everyone can just walk into the building.

I guess Noob Saibot would be a good security guard.

I'm not sure if it was a typical job fair or not. It was with Skills for Chicagoland's Future, and the one or two times I worked with them before I just ended up with a job(albeit a temp position).

Still, guess I'd have been even more pissed if that turned out to be the case.

Just double check next time. Maybe verbally confirm to yourself, "The door is locked."

This. I love em though, I get to sit on my ass all day on my phone. By and far, the people attending job fairs are not people I would hire lol

Next time I just need to give myself more time so I pay attention to what I'm doing. When I rush I tend to go on autopilot, which is how I ended up locking the door but not remembering it at all. :/
