If I killed Hitler, I would have to also kill tons of Nazis, the German people and the Axis powers. Some may even go deep state if I can't react fast enough.

Probably lose tons of brilliant scientists in the process and send the modern world back a few decades.

Then after staining my hands, I probably wouldn't have any further reason to hold back.

Pretty sure it was stated that the people you use it on don't go either. It was also heavily implied that people that used one became a Death God when they died.

if there's no heaven or hell then why do shinigami even exist in that universe?

it's like yeah heaven and hell aren't real bud but for some reason we have an entire race of grim reapers who exist to kill off people when their time comes

for what purpose?....i don't exactly see the shinigami being an evolution of anything and if they are gods of death then something must have created them to serve that role

you can't have darkness without the light and having death dealing demons without any angels to balance out their chaotic control of the world is really bizarre

I got some strong nihilist vibes from the anime so i think that's kind of the point. There's no hell or heaven. Just a bunch of demons that sit around killing people for their own amusement.

Well, I'd use it. There are a dozen people I could get rid off to make my life better. Besides, being able to control their actions before their death could be really - REALLY - useful. And by doing so, I would zero my chances of going to hell, so that's a great bonus. I mean... isn't that thing a win - win item? There's no L to figure you out irl, and as long as you're not dumb like Light to kill everyone the same way, you have a permanent life hack on your hands and no one can do anything about it.

Well, knowing about it and having watched the show beforehand gave us more than enough time to make our minds. Tho in my case it was a mater of 15 seconds or so. XP
