What is Game of the Month Club?
Game of the Month is a community project open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a select few games every month. The games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck)

The Basics
- Each month will feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated
- For each game you beat, you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing
- In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month
- If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so
- Drawing for next month's games is usually around a week before the end of the month
- If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will think you are super awesome!

Nomination Rules
- You get one nomination automatically each month
- You receive additional nominations each month for every chosen game that you beat
- Each game you nominate has to be unique from all other nominations and cannot include a game that has already been selected for GotM
- Each game must be a standalone game that can be acquired and played on its own (aka cannot be DLC/expansion that requires the base game)
- Nominations only carry over if you beat a chosen game after the drawing for next month's games but before the end of the month

I have two Steam keys for Day of the Tentacle Remastered I am willing to give out. When I first played the series in the mid-2000s, I began with 3. I greatly enjoyed it, but the story confused me having not been privy to characters, events, and lore from the previous two games

ArkOfTurus has beaten Mega Man (Maverick Hunter) X

Not a complete improvement over the original (I like the original music better, and voice acting was a mistake), but a quality remake. Played on hard, but it didn't really feel tougher than the original. Main reason I wanted to play this version was to play Vile mode, really. Going to move onto that when I get the chance.

Started Ghost Trick, and finished up until chapter 5.

Missile is the best dog. I've said this many times, but it can not be said enough.

I am up to Chapter 6 in Ghost Trick. I forgot how much of a missed opportunity it was to have more flexible time rewinding. I mistimed one little thing at the end of a section and had to redo the entire thing.

Up to chapter 14 in Ghost Trick. Love pretty much everything about it. Unfortunately there isn't much challenge to be had having already played it a couple times, but I'm still having a good time.

Played about two hours of Day of the Tentacle, disliked pretty much everything about it. The humor is all missing the mark, I can't stand any of the characters, I dislike the look of the game (both modern and retro), I don't like the music, and I've never been a fan of point and click adventure gameplay in general. This game just isn't for me, and I don't think I'll be finishing it.

I was incredibly disappointed with the lack of Bethesdoom hate last thread, but Ghost Trick being nominated makes up for everything.
Hell, might be a good time to replay it.

I've been playing Jak 3, and my file says I'm 72% finished.

I was a little worried about replaying it since my Jak II replay was more frustrating than I had remembered, and I ended up disliking it. Thankfully, Jak 3 has been much more enjoyable. Having checkpoints really helps.

KCF has beaten Ghost Trick

This was the first and only DS game that I reserved, so this was a replay if I failed to mention that before. The characters are how I remembered them, and the plot was basically how I remembered it too (being a little older now, I noticed more moments of disingenuity and cherry-picking).

The highlights of the game though are its outstanding animation (I don't know of any other DS game that pushed the system's limits like that) and creative puzzles. I forgot how the puzzles degraded toward the end, but I still had a blast.

The game does have the issue of not having free-flow interaction (lots of forced interruptions while puzzle-solving) and too limited time-manipulation powers for a game that often requires absolute contextual precision (such as having to do a specific action at a specific point or you have to redo everything from the beginning).

Glad to say this has held up a lot better than Jak 2 which went from my favorite when it came out to my least favorite of the series. It was cool replaying it.

I guess I've got three noms. I'll go with Katamari Damacy, Rayman Legends, and Inside.

Jak 3 Complete

That was the first Jak game I've ever played by the way. I enjoyed it a lot. I don't think I'm going to go out of my way to play the earlier entries right now (I've still got two more games for this month), but since they're generally so cheap, I will probably pick them up soon.

Game says that I am 20% done with DotT as I just unlocked Laverne as a character. The humor seems to be in line with a lot of 90s point-and-click adventures, so I guess that I don't see the insufferable stuff that Ark dealt with.

I think the issue might just be that I don't like 90s point and click adventures. I did like the writing of Grim Fandango and Psychonauts, though, so I did expect to like this one.

Day of the Tentacle complete

I remembered a lot of this game from when I was a child and playing point-and-click adventures on my grandparents' computer. My grandfather really loved p & c's. Anyways, the one real drawback was the little delay in between clicking and dialogue in this gaming. It felt very mechanical. Overall, the game itself felt sluggish although it's quite amusing.

KCF has beaten Day of the Tentacle

While not up there with the likes of Monkey Island or Grim Fandango, I thoroughly enjoyed this, and I'm glad you didn't have to play Maniac Mansion (though it is included in the remastered version) in order to make sense of this. Hancock/Jefferson/Washington were my favorites.

Now would be an excellent time to make a more experimental nomination to maximize the amount of people who might give it a whirl. I wanted to do Baobabs Mausoleum, but I guess that is an episodic adventure with future episodes still to come out.

That also applies to another game, so I think that I'm just going to settle on ABZU for now and maybe (but probably won't) replace it when the Steam sale begins.

I probably won't make too many noms so you have a better percentage chance of those types of games. I just keep putting games on the list that I know I will never play if I'm not forced too.
